LaRPS : Legacies Role Play System » Rants and Raves
A brief rant..
(4 posts)-
I've been spending my time this morning digging through the posts here, and I have to make a different kind of rant. *sucks in a greaaat big breath*
"OHMYGODITSOBLOODYAWESOMEHERE"
*cough cough choke*
Okay, so what that means is this is a good kind of rant, because...well, I've never found anyplace this cool before.
Awesome rpers, awesome roleplay, people that don't pick on you because your a bit of a..well paragraph poster at times, and true freedom to RP your storyline out as you wish.I have roleplayed in a good many places, some good, some bad, but nowhere that picked me up and plopped me front and center and made me feel like I was truly immersed into the RP.
The ST's are friendly, helpful, have a sense of humor..and they most importantly and most definitely encourage roleplayers.
Now I've seen places and been around enough to realize the difference, and I don't think people give enough credit to what you guys are doing here..
For just a few short posts I'm going to explain what the average roleplay sim is like..MY rant. The Roleplayer's Manifesto by K.D. Silvansky's Player

"Can nyone help mi sis, she war kidnaps, plz."
The typical roleplayer that's not in Legacies looks at roleplaying as something that is a joke, with bad builds, bad huds, and even stupider meters, unless of course they are part of a combat roleplay sim, in which what happens most of the time, if you have any computer lag at all, you spend 99% of your time facedown in the mud roleplaying the status known as dead.
So what is good roleplay? Good roleplay is full immersion, is fun, it's the kind of thing that makes you want it, steals your breath, or makes you chortle out loud in a group of people that all look at you like you've just grown three heads.
We are the class of roleplayers who understands that roleplay, good roleplay takes effort and time, we take that time, because it is a labor of love.
We are the core around which roleplay evolves, changes, morphs and becomes something breathtaking, but more than that, we take something and bring it to life.
We are the line in the sand that marks the survival of paragraph posting.
We are the caretakers, supporters, the keepers of the belief that their is "no one true way" but that "good rp" takes patience, willingness to continue improving yourself, and a good sense of humor..
We are targeted because our posts are slow, hated because our computers lag so badly that combat is a joke, because we lack the killing fury to survive in roleplay combat sims for more time than it takes an elephant to destroy a banana.
But, we are loved by those who reside in a special place, known only to those who adore it, as Legos. The good roleplayer stands together in this place, finding others of their kind, supporting each other, making a world come to life, becoming oil that makes the machine run smoothly...in a time when machines did not run at all..
Do not overlook the paragraphs, the styles, the descriptions or the details, the work of the Storytellers, greeters, and guides..
Please Do not complain about us, for there are much worse places in much worse sims out there, where roleplayers of quality are treated badly.
Do not forget that we are more than we appear, we make mistakes, we crack crude jokes, we are the essence of what roleplay really is..
Do not underestimate us, for our trials in surviving the combat RP sims, the taunts and the jeers of people who say they love roleplay but really hate it..
Our abilities in frustration, have forced us to learn to post better, give more detail, more immersion, and made us strive to be the difference.
our form may seem simple, Victorian, elegant-less, and sad..but their is something here, a spark, a brief moment of true inspiration brought fromm another time..
We are the home when others come to us, accepting them, comforting them, and giving a place of drama free fun.
We are the shadow, the Nexus, when others don't understand it, when they can't roleplay it, and when they don't understand that shadow is supposed to be just a little scary..
We are the arcane, with our magic schools, with our hud, and with out gameplay, we bring magic, make it Victorian, make it ours, and make it real..
We are the healer, when others do instant fixes, we roleplay our recovery time, we enjoy it, make it more, and bring that to life.
We are the specialized hybrid, the ultimate roleplay home, the rare, odd duck, who can forsake the greatness in god-modding to find something a little more..something that brings this amazing place to life.
We are there, watching, waiting, ready to roleplay and make the wheel of Legacies spin..to bring the effort to bere to teach the classes, to stand at the hub..
We are the last hope, the ray of delight that some people have found, I think you can ask around, most of us have been to other sims, other places, and other lands...and yet, this is home..but Legacies is the people of the sim, without the roleplayers, it would be nothing. Without the amazing team of greeters, guides, ST's, Moderators and so on. But more than that..Remember this, when you roleplay...when you see a new player, when you get angry and cross ooc and ic, when you call for that /9st..
Know this, it is one thing that shines indescribable, clear, and brings out the true joy that I have found in this and to be straight, only in this sim.
The roleplay, is only what WE make of it. Nothing more, nothing less.
We are Legacies 1891./bows with respect to all that take the time to further and create such a wonderful world, such great roleplay, such amazing fun, that bring that rare, odd spark of life into existance.
I don't think you get told "thank you" very much.So from the player of K.D Silvansky--
Thank you. You guys are awesome. Just my sorry attempt to express that.
P.S.
Total note of apology-Nothing in this post was meant to anger, insult, or come off meanie head to anyone else, it's just my poor, pitiful attempt to show how awesome I find Legacies, my own kind of rant, I suppose. -
(chuckle) Now he'll never leave. Which is good, since I rather like RPing with you. You are right, legos is something special and it is good to remind folk of this every so often. I just always hope the other sims will grow up, and get immersive.
-
(chuckles) No, I don't intend to ever leave. And I rather like RPing with everyone in Legacies too.
Sometimes, I think we forget what we have, and instead...get a little grumpy about what we "see" missing.
It's nice to be reminded. And while I've recieved im's telling me this was a suck up post, that was not the intention in which it was meant.

I wouldn't call it a suck up post I would call it telling it as you see it. Reading post like this reminds me why of love Legacies and why I put all the time I do in here. Thank you for that.
As for Tri I am sure the same can be said for all the work he has put on building such a great place and the LaRPS which no one will have though I have seen some try to duplicate it.
I would like to add one thing and that is about the community. Every single one of you make Legacies what it is and I for one am honored to role play with each and every one of you. The imagination that comes with everyone's story line and the fact that no story line may go the way one would expect that the twists and turns make it that much more addictive.
Thank you Legacies for giving me a reason to do something every day!!!
