[11:10 AM] Faith Diesel: Welcome to Legacies those of you who are new and hello everyone else.
[11:10 AM] Faith Diesel: I am Faith and I am a storyteller here. More about Storytellers later. This part 2 of my introduction to Legacies. It covers all the information specific to Legacies. You can find all this information on the Legacies1891.com website.
[11:11 AM] Faith Diesel: lets start with your character
[11:11 AM] Faith Diesel: Take your time developing your character. You can find the list of Larps races at this link: http://larps.net/races.php You can find some posts in the website that can help you focus your research: http://legacies1891.com/community/forum.php?id=5 We also hold classes on it.
[11:12 AM] Faith Diesel: You do NOT need all the details in place to start RPing. Flesh out enough to be able to introduce yourself and to know how your character will react in various situations. Let your character develop over time.
[11:12 AM] Faith Diesel: Remember that even the strongest character MUST be defeatable so make sure you know what your character's Achille's heels are.
[11:13 AM] Faith Diesel: Make sure your appearance is appropriate: 1891 or earlier. If you cant find the right scar or you smell fishy you can use the meter /9title - its shows a line of text below your char name.
[11:13 AM] Faith Diesel: This should only display information that would be apparent to someone next to you but is not obvious from your avatar like damage or smells or fleas.

[11:16 AM] Dinah Adored: What about things like circus noir that are modern but reference things more current to the time like the use of opium or absinthe?

[11:19 AM] Faith Diesel: coca cola for example was not available in london till 1923 although it existed in america in 1891
[11:20 AM] Faith Diesel: but if your character is american maybe you have a plausible reason to have some coca cola
[11:20 AM] Faith Diesel: also remember that this is not exactly london so imports are difficult and random
[11:21 AM] Faith Diesel: but its your rp - you find plausibility you can rp it
[11:22 AM] Faith Diesel: You might want to announce your arrival in residents group chat (IC information) to introduce yourself to other members of Legacies.
[11:22 AM] Faith Diesel: Residents can also be used for other things like leaving a message for someone, letting others know you what you are RPing on the sim or to call for police or medical help

[11:23 AM] Faith Diesel: For really good bits of rp, job offers or business openings - those sort of things you can also send out a notice in residents
[11:24 AM] Faith Diesel: we dont neeed to know if you are sweeping the floor in a notice though you might want to let others know in residents chat

[11:36 AM] Faith Diesel: ntroduce yourself to as many people as possible and ask them for information about your new world. You might want to find a bed for the night or something to eat after your long journey.
[11:36 AM] Faith Diesel: There are various forms of accommodation. You might find a hotel, boarding house or you can rent. Rentals are available OOC off the hub but you can also ask around to find the estate agents and rent your property ICly. All property is IC on the gamefloor, rented or not.

[11:37 AM] Faith Diesel: ok lets talk about what you do if rl suddenly intervenes
[11:38 AM] Faith Diesel: No OOC chat or gestures are allowed in local. This is to keep the immersive feeling. There is only one OOC word allowed: (OOB) meaning out of body.
[11:38 AM] Faith Diesel: This gives you a RL emergency break of 10mins – for potty break or the phone.
[11:38 AM] Faith Diesel: Please if you can, include an IC post to support it for the benefit of other players. Why dont you all try it. - an RP post then (OOB) at the end.

[11:44 AM] Faith Diesel: OOC group chat is where you can ask questions, call for an ST or just chill out and get to know people OOCly.
[11:44 AM] Faith Diesel: STs (storytellers) are Legacies staff. STs deal with IC issues like refereeing a fight, recording a potion creation or setting a ward.
[11:44 AM] Faith Diesel: We can also help you with rentals, approving weapons etc. & setting up your guest lectures should you want to give them.
[11:45 AM] Faith Diesel: We can also help with character & rp issues if you get stuck, though try the website and classes first.
[11:45 AM] Faith Diesel: You may have an ST for any bit of RP if you wish but there are a few times when you need to call one.
[11:46 AM] Faith Diesel: Call for a Storyteller in the following cases:
If your RP….
1. affect Health?
2. affect Strength?
3. affect Life?
4. affect Mental state?
5. affects any visable object or build?
If you answer YES to any of the above, then call for a Storyteller in “Isle of Legacies OOC” IM group.

[11:53 AM] Faith Diesel: as i say the point of discovery information or potions or enchanted objects info is to allow rp to continue without the creator online

[11:54 AM] Faith Diesel: Ask for an ST in ooc chat, if you get no joy there then try the larps chat. Note that OOC chat borks for us quite often.

[11:59 AM] Faith Diesel: We want you to have fun here & enjoy being part of our friendly community but we know even the friendliest RP game will get game related disagreements from time to time.
[11:59 AM] Faith Diesel: Even the most experienced player can make a mistake. So here is how we deal with them here in legacies.
[12:00 PM] Faith Diesel: By all means question things or ask for things to be reviewed if you need to but please do it politely in IM.
[12:00 PM] Faith Diesel: Feel free to come to an amicable solution and go with it as long as all involved parties agree.
[12:00 PM] Faith Diesel: If not call an ST to help.
[12:01 PM] Faith Diesel: Do try to keep IMs to a minimum though as they do detract from full immersion.
[12:01 PM] Faith Diesel: The STs (storytellers) are just players who have been in legacies long enough to be able to give a little advice.
[12:02 PM] Faith Diesel: They can advise you about your roleplay and adjudicate an IC issue if you request it.

[12:02 PM] Faith Diesel: Remember though that this just advice, the RP still belongs to you the players.
[12:02 PM] Faith Diesel: If you are unhappy with your ST you may call for a new one. You may also call for a peer review of an ST decision.
[12:03 PM] Faith Diesel: If you have a complaint about any player including the STs, you may notecard the incident and give it to an ST to post for TriJin Bade resolve.

[12:07 PM] Faith Diesel: You have taken the crystal, the wind is howling, and rain is chilling you to the bone....will you make it to shore or will you drown in the wild waters around Legacies.
[12:08 PM] Faith Diesel: You make it to a dark city. There is no sun, only dark forebidding clouds and the weather like as not is cold and damp.
[12:08 PM] Faith Diesel: If you are familiar with London, it looks like London and yet it doesnt. It is 1891. The last ripper murder has just happened.
[12:09 PM] Faith Diesel: You enter Legacies in Spitalfields and Whitechapel is just beyond. This is where the murders happened. Many of the victims frequented the local pub, the Ten Bells.
[12:09 PM] Faith Diesel: Why is it not like London? Why is there no sun? and more strangely why do dark and fantastic creatures walk the streets, some keeping to the shadows, some walking the streets plain as day.
[12:10 PM] Faith Diesel: Legacies is a Victorian Dark RP sim. The backstory is unique, detailed & based on the Jack the Ripper true stories.

[12:11 PM] Faith Diesel: Try exploring the game area and RPing with people for more background information. Nearly every building has a part to play in the Legacies story.
[12:11 PM] Faith Diesel: Be inquisitive. Seek out the answers to the puzzle that is Legacies. The answers are out there in the minds of the residents and in the fabric of the place itself.....

[12:22 PM] Faith Diesel: sometimes it ticks up too fast though
[12:23 PM] Faith Diesel: so we use the d4 to give us a random amount of damage
[12:23 PM] Naia Madruga: and not PV target all the time I lose strenght when I posion?
[12:23 PM] Faith Diesel: its a temp measure till tri works out something better for the hud
[12:24 PM] Faith Diesel: try to use the actions and abilities in the hud where you can
[12:24 PM] Faith Diesel: PvT, PvE & PvA are non specific dice rolls and do not improve your character nearly as accurately as the others
[12:25 PM] Naia Madruga: yes that is what i am trying to do.. trying to see how I can use hobble I figures out the posion by having my claws dipped into posion
[12:25 PM] Faith Diesel: they are last resorts for unusual rp
[12:25 PM] Faith Diesel: and you must not use PvA for harm at all
[12:25 PM] Faith Diesel: has to be PvT
[12:25 PM] Faith Diesel: even if its magic

[12:35 PM] Fiona Restless: I am worried about someone's mental health - that thier IC behavior is too closely reflecting thier ooc problems..is that something that I should talk to anyone about?
