(1 post)
  1. Leigh Huet | July 12, 2011 - 07:33 PM

[11:32] Leigh Luv: I would like to welcome all of you to this class
[11:33] Leigh Luv: for those that do not know me I am Leigh and one of the many storytellers and moderator here in Legacies
[11:33] Thomas Whistler : poke da ponye
    [11:33] Thomas Whistler : pony
[11:33] Leigh Luv: this class is going to mainly concentrate upon the intermediate aspecsts of your dice and your stats
[11:34] Leigh Luv: the first thing I want to say about meters for those of you that have used them before...forget all you know for the LaRPS is very different..it very much like the brain of your character
    [11:34] Lillyanna Avedon: nods
[11:35] Lillyanna Avedon: >.< some meters are just plain confusing I like the larps meter ^_^
[11:36] Leigh Luv: we tell you that for your character to grow that you need to DO things......this is very true....through your RP, using the dice, fighting NPC's your character will develop
[11:37] Leigh Luv: if you just go around playing with the NPC's not talking (RPing) with others you basically are a great fighting machine..and lack in intelegence and wisdom on how to use what you know
[11:37] Thomas Whistler : You don't have no power neither
[11:38] Leigh Luv: intelegence and wisdom is gained by talking with others use the /2 and the /2m for emotes
[11:39] Leigh Luv: now there is also a catch to this
[11:39] Leigh Luv: tell me in your RL when you only talk say with your family or a few others do you get to a point you can almost finish their sentence? or say the same thing at the same time?
[11:40] Lillyanna Avedon: >.< I've done that with my husband lol
    [11:40] Maya Naerth: yes
[11:41] Leigh Luv: smiles....well the same can be said if you only RP with the same people all the time
[11:41] Leigh Luv: when you meet with a new person or a new character your brain is more stimulated
[11:42] Lillyanna Avedon: is that a new thing or something that's always been?
[11:42] Leigh Luv: has always been
    [11:42] Lillyanna Avedon: Ah
[11:43] Leigh Luv: the meter knows how much time you spend with another and knows when you have met a new character or one you do not talk with a lot
    [11:43] Lillyanna Avedon: Neat ^_^
[11:44] Leigh Luv: now granted that there are times your story may have a small circle but don't be afraid to let others join for you never know what they may add not to mention it helps your character grow as well
[11:45] Leigh Luv: when you walk around the sim and explore tri is also addding more things you may see a message that there is something new. not to mention a great way of possibly meeting a new player
[11:46] Leigh Luv: if you don't have your meter on it would be good to have it you will be needing it soon
[11:46] Lord Nic Luv: ((Nicolie Luv is in StoryTeller mode.))
[11:47] Leigh Luv: playing with the NPC's is a great way to one work off some agression but it also helps your stats with physicalaity as well...your dexterity, your prowess with a weapon, your endurance for sustaing an activity
[11:48] Leigh Luv: the idea is to do things that one make sense for your character....to help them to grow in ways of things they would do including using your dice in your daily RP...they do not have to be just for conflicts
[11:48] Leigh Luv: for instance lets talk about the discovery roll
[11:49] Leigh Luv: what kinds of things or ways can you think of that you can use the discovery
[11:49] Lillyanna Avedon: noticing someone stalking in the shadows
[11:49] Leigh Luv: good what is another way?
[11:50] Thomas: "ask Cedric if any of the bees know who this strange man's species"
    [11:50] Lillyanna Avedon: lol
[11:50] Leigh Luv: actually that would be pretty broad and frankly I don't think you would get that answer you are seeking
[11:51] Leigh Luv: no one can just look at someone even with a success get a race of a character
[11:51] Leigh Luv: so what else?
    [11:51] Lillyanna Avedon: Listen check
[11:52] Leigh Luv: discoveries are for something specific
[11:52] Lillyanna Avedon: trying to overhear the conversation at the next table
[11:52] Leigh Luv: like for instance a lycan using discovery to lock in on your scent...if successfull they smell it again would be easier to lock in on
[11:52] Leigh Luv: thats another good way Lilly
[11:54] Maya Naerth: -YOu can literally look at someone and see things and roll a discovery about their physical injusries
[11:55] Leigh Luv: yes very good as well...determining about the extent of their injuries through touch, sight...etc...just remember it is all in the details...what you specifically ask for in your RP
[11:56] Leigh Luv: these kinds of things will help with your intelegence and wisdom
[11:56] Lillyanna Avedon: Well couldn't you look at someone, to look for details, to help guess at a person's race, like pointed ears, horns, stuff like that?
[11:56] ^V^Sas^V^^V^Sas^V^ successfully examines with a stellar success.
[11:57] Leigh Luv: why use a discovery for what is obvious?
    [11:57] Lillyanna Avedon: fair enough
[11:57] Maya Naerth: quite a few will just tell you if you ask them
[11:57] Nic Luv: Wording is important as well, because if you dont ask it you may not get the answer you seek
[11:57] Leigh Luv: I might RP trying to listen for a heart beat which would be plausable for my character
[11:57] Leigh Luv: and yes a lot of things you can learn just with RP
[11:58] Leigh Luv: it is something specific you are wishing to learn....like if they RP about a glow
[11:58] Leigh Luv: a specific scent is it just a perfume
[11:59] Leigh Luv: doing detective work...scrapes on their hands
[11:59] Leigh Luv: a body dump sceen...what you would see around the body
[12:00] Leigh Luv: any questions about this?
[12:01] Leigh Luv: always gets nervous when she gets silence after a question...laughs
    [12:02] Lillyanna Avedon: nope
    [12:02] Lillyanna Avedon: ^_^
[12:02] Maya Naerth: Good so far
[12:02] Leigh Luv: now lets talk about the PvAbility rolls....when would be a good time for your character to use these?
[12:03] Maya Naerth: anything not covered by an ability
    [12:03] Maya Naerth: action
[12:03] Leigh Luv: are you talking about when you are wanting to harm another?
[12:04] Lillyanna Avedon: Preforming something like a dance?
[12:04] Maya Naerth: If there isnt' a specified diceroll ability for it
[12:04] Maya Naerth: like walking up a hill
[12:04] Maya Naerth: trying to put your hand on simething, toss something in the air
    [12:04] Maya Naerth: juggling
[12:04] Maya Naerth: that kind of thing
[12:05] Leigh Luv: actually Maya the PvAbility rolls cannot be used to harm another player if there is no ability for what you are attempting then we use the PvTarget Harm
[12:05] Leigh Luv: those would be environment
[12:05] Maya Naerth: I wasn't thinking on the harm level. ;)
[12:05] Leigh Luv: you are doing something with the environment...juggling being the balls you are throwing around...pickiing something up, jumping, etc.
[12:06] Lillyanna Avedon: I sometimes use it if I want to do something like hide my characters wings
[12:06] Leigh Luv: good use of the PvAbility for your using your glamor for your character
[12:06] Leigh Luv: opening a portal
[12:07] Leigh Luv: creating a ward
[12:07] Maya Naerth: In another class when someone was reaching for something, to use the novice ability
[12:07] Maya Naerth: they were told to^^
[12:07] Leigh Luv: that is environmental and will get with the other ST's for it is a physical reaction and environment
[12:08] Leigh Luv: PvAbility is more magical
    [12:08] Leigh Luv: extraordinary
[12:08] Maya Naerth: okay, cool thank you
    [12:09] Leigh Luv: your welcome
[12:10] Leigh Luv: I will also tell you this
[12:10] Leigh Luv: when you use the PvAbility it is always best to have someone targeted as well
[12:11] Leigh Luv: though it senses others around you to truly develop your character when it makes sense target the player like when I RP opening a portal for me and nic I would have him targeted and use a PvAbility skilled
[12:11] Leigh Luv: any questions about the PvAbility in the use of your RP?
[12:12] Leigh Luv: now the next thing that is being added to the meter slowly are skills...this is much different than your abilities
[12:12] Leigh Luv: points to the horse
[12:13] Leigh Luv: how many of you have gotten a horse?
    [12:13] ^V^Sas^V^^V^Sas^V^ hides from view.
[12:13] ^V^Sas^V^^V^Sas^V^ reappears from their hiding place.
[12:13] Maya Naerth: I don't have one but watched Waymon as I LMAO
[12:14] Leigh Luv: that is because acording to the LaRPS his horse skills was a novice he was just learning
[12:14] Leigh Luv: now he could RP that he was learning to ride a NEW horse that was a bit skittish of him
    [12:14] Lillyanna Avedon: ^_^
[12:14] Lillyanna Avedon: and thrown off
[12:15] Leigh Luv: everyone starts as a novice and it will throw you
    [12:15] Leigh Luv: but
[12:15] Leigh Luv: the more you ride the horse the better that skill can become
[12:15] Lillyanna Avedon: never did find out how many points till next lv >.<
[12:15] Leigh Luv: please...please..please...do it with your RP have fun with riding it around the city as you explore
[12:15] Sasha Branagh: it took me about 45 mins to get him to stop throwing me
    [12:16] Lillyanna Avedon: wow
[12:16] Leigh Luv: and how long it takes you to get beyond novice will depend on the stats of your characgter
[12:16] Leigh Luv: it didn't take me that long to get beyond novice
    [12:17] Lillyanna Avedon: Ah
[12:17] Leigh Luv: think about your intelegence, wisdom, dexterity...wouldn't those play a part?
    [12:18] Lillyanna Avedon: nods
[12:19] Leigh Luv: so what may take one 30 min or 15 may take another an hour of consistant riding
[12:20] Leigh Luv: there is really no way to tell how long it will take YOUR character to learn a skill
[12:20] Leigh Luv: now there will be more skills being added and tri will be putting out more things for you to gain those skills
[12:20] Ahndree Gallas: would the profession you've chosen be part of that reason?
    [12:20] Leigh Luv: yes
[12:20] Leigh Luv: all plays a part together
[12:21] Leigh Luv: and why you cannot spam an ability or dice rolls and expect to get better
[12:21] Nic Luv: but not a good idea to go changing your profession or race to try and get better that will only hurt you in the end.
[12:21] Ahndree Gallas: I can testify on that *nods*
[12:21] Leigh Luv: like constanly rolling against an NPC is not going to help your character at all and only worsen your chances...it is best to just RP take your time and use skils abilities etc for your character to grow over time
[12:23] Leigh Luv: the larps meter is not something you can beat it is developed for you to build your character over time..a true commitment....it isn't about numbers like other meters it is about how you DO things that go with YOUR character and develop their different aspects and build upon them
[12:24] Leigh Luv: and one of the best things I love about Legacies....it is all about your character and ways through RP to develop that character
    [12:24] Leigh Luv: any questions?
    [12:24] Lillyanna Avedon: nope
[12:26] Leigh Luv: thoughts? comments? questions about the Legacies RP? frustrations you may be having that we can help you with?
[12:26] Ahndree Gallas: oh, one thing
    [12:26] Leigh Luv: yes?
[12:27] Niris Sor: ((Badtz Resident is Out Of Character))
[12:27] Ahndree Gallas: I think I heard Tri saying something about adding some performing skills to the ones he is creting like the horse riding one and crafting, yes?
    [12:27] Leigh Luv: yes
[12:27] Nic Luv: yes, better to focus on your mind as a whole not just one thing or another, think of it like this : when you fight do you only want to fight with a physical weapon? or maybe fight using your mind as a weapon..all things have to be developed together being strong in just one area does not make your character strong it actially can weaken you.
[12:27] Leigh Luv: they are being added as he gets them to work.
    [12:27] Ahndree Gallas: awesome
[12:29] Lillyanna Avedon: strength, without tactics
    [12:29] Leigh Luv: pretty much
[12:29] Leigh Luv: I want to thank all of you for comming and hope you gained something new from the class
    [12:29] Lillyanna Avedon: ^_^
[12:29] Lady Leigh Luv: ((Asherah is given 1000 experience points.))
    [12:30] Lillyanna Avedon: thank you
[12:30] Lady Leigh Luv: ((Maya Naerth is given 1000 experience points.))
[12:30] Lady Leigh Luv: ((Goodison is given 1000 experience points.))
[12:30] Goodison Bazar: thank you :)
[12:30] Ahndree GallasAhndree Gallas rubs his hands exited about new performing skills to work on
[12:30] Leigh Luv: Taen I can't award you in ooc
    [12:31] Ƭɑɛɳʈ Badtz Fairwind-Lavender: That's fine. I didn't want a reward. =P
[12:31] Leigh Luv: tyrus there are a lot of things you can do with your abilities that you might not have thought of with your character
    [12:31] Ahndree Gallas: like?
[12:32] Leigh Luv: goes privately for does not want to give hints away bout his character
[12:32] Ahndree GallasAhndree Gallas makes a mockery of someone being discreet with a very obvious "playing cool" behavior
[12:33] Maya Naerth: Thank you for the clas
