[05:06 PM] Sais Xue: Well, doesn't look like anoyone else is showing up... so lets get this show on the road then. First off... Lets define a group fight. Ssince I am awesome and won't use a word in its own definition, a group fight is when three or more avatars congregate and engage in an rp battle... least SL wise. And... hello there Max.
[05:08 PM] Sais Xue: Now, Usually with the group fight, it's just like a one on one... may want to im each other about specifics, and if an ST is there, always want to talk together. [05:11 PM] Sais Xue: Now... just like in normal combat... And hello, Varoona... A post order is VERY important. Usually the best way to work out the post order for a growing group is to just put the new comers at the bottom of the order, make sure everything stays fair and balanced.

Any attempt you make to run meets the normal rules of combat... as in they each get a turn to try to stop you. Which leads to LOTS of chances to foil your escape.

[05:21 PM] Sais Xue: And... remember... all of the abilites apply... so if you are blinded, frozen, crippled, silenced, levitated, etc... unless someones casts a spell to cure you, you are stuck like that till the caster's next turn. which could take awhile. But... we touched on this earlier... and it makes a good segway.... but there are only four real options when a person does try to flee

The person can't escape.. and they are part of the scene much longer then they wish to be. And finally.. RL rears its ugly head and they have to make an exit that makes little sense plausibility wise.

[05:31 PM] Sais Xue: The most basic..... is Huge groups. While you may want renact a Victorian Sharks Vs. the Jets in the mean streets of London, do remember that everyone has to take a turn. Lets put it in a numbers format. 8 people. lets say they take 3 minutes a post. you wait 24 minutes before your turn... if everyone moves quickly. That is one round. Best possible conditions.

If you have a means to talk to other players, a magic crystal, perhaps you're next to a phone... smoke screens, whatever... it HAS to be rped out. I know of a few instances that didn't happen... and it caused quite a fuss

And as I said before, Sar... if you call for help.. if MUST be rped out so the other person has some hit that it is coming.

If you get the basics out of the way... like typing the reactions to people as they go along... it does three things. Forces you to read the reactions so you don't miss things, as well as cuts down on overall time. Now... last minute edits can change this, or people's actions can change yours... but overall most of what you would type ahead of time won't change.

[06:05 PM] Sais Xue: But.. another thing.. players can get frustrated if they are doing something, then all of a sudden, 4 more guys show up and because of the exit rules, they can't get away. Or, if a scene has been going on, they can be frustrated that 4 people can take a shot at them to prevent their escape... and remember... you only need 1/4 to fail the attempt... odds are stacked against someone trying to flee. And if they are on a time constraint.. or really tired, they can get very testy and say things in OOC they wouldn't normally

[06:18 PM] Sais Xue: We are really busy. The ST's usually have skype running as a way to communicate if there is an issue or just to keep in touch if something as trivial as ooc isn't working. That, possibly a few windows open, as well as the confrence or game room all lend poorly to players trying to send a private little message to the ST.. making a person think they are ignored... leading to more issues.
