[17:41] Garaan Fitzroy: So, do they burn well?
[17:41] Garaan Fitzroy: Wooden stakes work?
[17:41] Kev: *chuckles* Class doens't start for 19 minutes.
[17:41] Garaan Fitzroy: Or just plain old decapitation?
[17:41] Garaan Fitzroy: Ah ok
[17:43] Kev: This is the part that I laze around and tp people up.
[17:43] Garaan Fitzroy: Been there, done that
[17:43] Garaan Fitzroy: I am just happy to slack for a change
[17:46] Kev: Hello Kate
[17:46] Kate Silver: Hi Kev
[17:47] Garaan Fitzroy: I wonder how they react to dynamite...
[17:47] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy rubs his chin
[17:49] No room to sit here, try another spot.
[17:49] Kev: Hello Glori
[17:50] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy waves at Glori
[17:50] Gloriana Maertens: Garaan! dude! And Hi Tori and Kev
[17:50] Garaan Fitzroy: Dont mind me, I'm getting hunting tips
[17:50] Garaan Fitzroy: Know your enemy and all that
[17:50] Gloriana Maertens: mmm
[17:50] Gloriana Maertens: Also hi Kate!
[17:51] Gloriana Maertens: *cams around
[17:51] Kate Silver: Hi Glori
[17:51] Kev: I shall dub thee Cammy, and I will pet her, and hug her, and call her glori.
[17:51] Gloriana Maertens: *pants and wags her tail
[17:52] Garaan Fitzroy: Heavy petting?
[17:52] Gloriana Maertens: *waits for it
[17:52] Gloriana Maertens: gah
[17:52] Garaan Fitzroy: Wow, I like this class already... -
[17:54] Kev: Hi Tori!
[17:54] Kev: Hi Sephy!
[17:54] Tori: waves at Kev
[17:55] Gloriana Maertens: Hello again Tori and hi Sephy!
[17:55] Tori: helloo
[17:57] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy toys with a wooden stake idly.
[17:58] Kev: Hi Vic
[17:58] Kev: *smooch*
[17:58] Victoria VanTassel: Heya Deary ;)
[17:59] Kev: Hello Jeff, :)
[17:59] Jeffrey Martiel: Hi KEv
[18:00] Kev: Hi Maple! :)
[18:00] SKY: hi there :)
[18:01] Kev: Hello Zealot
[18:01] Zealot Sunkiller: hello
[18:02] Sephy: sorry lagged and crashed
[18:02] Kev: Welcome to everyone. If you wish to take a seat you can. I would like to start by introducing myself. I'm Keighvin Silvansky, I have the honor to be a Storyteller in Legacies 1891 for about four months now. This is Race Class 101: Vampire. Everyone is welcome to please call me Kev if they wish *smile*
[18:04] Kev: One of the first things I wish to say is this is just general information about the Race of Vampires. It's not meant to be limiting in any way--it's your rp folks, this is just assistance in information *smile*
[18:06] Kev: First we're going to cover what the LaRPS website says about vampires. These are the racial characteristics of a vampire according to what the race sample says. ----The undead creature that lurks in the shadow of night and feasts on blood and other liquids. Maybe you will even encounter the vampire that sucks knowledge from you. After each feast, their wisdom increases and their strength is gained. Beware the blood thirsty ones with a gleam in their eyes.
[18:06] Kev: Vampires, with LaRPS, Can Fly. They can go Underwater. They do not have a large appetite. They are highly intelligent, they are of neutral Ferocity and they speak the languages Vampire and Common.
[18:07] ShadowpondShadowpond grins
[18:08] Kev: All languages can be accessed with the /22 command. that is, you say /22 and what you wish to say after that. This will place your text--without buying or using an expensive translator, that only your race can hear.
[18:09] Kev: Nobody can tell someone's race by the language that they speak, it only says "other language" when you use it.
[18:11] Kev: One of the most popular types of Vampire is the World of Darkness/Vampire the Masquerade Vampire--however, it is not limited to this kind of vampire. Please realize that. We're not laying any ground rules down in this class, Just offering you interesting information about possible ways to roleplay a vampire character. How they feed, how they can possibly be killed.
[18:11] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy perks up
[18:13] Kev: Vampire Sects--Most commonly most Vampires rp as part of a sect or group. Most of you have heard of these. "Brujah, Malkavian, Nosferatur, Toreaador, tremere, Ventrue, Lasombre, Tzimisce. There are also a great many independent groups. Each has it's own...style.
[18:14] Sephy: I have RP Toreaador before
[18:14] Kev: First thing to know is that popularly their are three sides to the vampire lifestyle. Camarilla, Sabbat, and the Independent Clans. Camarilla believes that every vampire should try to fit in and to some extent hide from the rest of humanity, it's easier to feed that way.
[18:15] Kev: The Sabbit, believe that freedom is preached--every vampire is free to create their own destiny without being hindered by the reputations of the elders, and that no Sabbat has to lay down their life for "cowards" that cannot take care of their own matters. This places them in direct opposition with the Camarilla. The Independent Clans are exactly what they sound like...independent. They want nothing to do with either side.
[18:16] Kev: Can anyone name me a group that might be part of the Camarilla?
[18:16] D.Thorn: Toreador
[18:16] Victoria VanTassel: Venture
[18:16] Kev: That's two of them. Anyone else?
[18:16] D.Thorn: Gangrel in the past - not so much anymore
[18:16] Jeffrey Martiel: Nosferatu?
[18:16] Gloriana Maertens: Tremere
[18:17] Garaan Fitzroy: Malkavian
[18:17] Sephy: Nosferatu
[18:17] D.Thorn: Brujah
[18:18] Kev: *grins* Excellent. Don't forget Brujah as well. Malkavian's. Indeed. All excellent points and cases of those that might be "Camarilla" however, beware, for this isn't always so...Each clan has it's Antitribu--splinter groups that go away from the belif of the main clan..which might be how you might get a Tremere Sabbat.
[18:18] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy coughs. "Street thughs the brujah are" -
[18:19] Kev: Not unknown to happen *smile* I'm going to go down the list of clans and give a base description of each of them really quick, and then we'll discuss strengths and weaknesses of vampires. Or rather, how you might injure them.
[18:19] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy stifles a "yay"
[18:19] D.Thorn: mwahahahahaha
[18:19] Kev: Brujah- The Punks. "Rabble" These tend to like to Frenzy...they are also known as one of the staple Strenghths of Camarilla.
[18:20] Kev: Malkavian. Every malk is in some fashion insane. It is said that every drop of Malk blood is nuts, to the last drop. These are the crazies in the vampire world.
[18:21] Leigh Luv: well there is a reason this type is usually crazy
[18:21] Kev: Nosferatu. Sewer rats, the embrace warps each of these into a hideously deformed creature. Very good at spying. *grin*
[18:21] Garaan Fitzroy: Ugly as sin though
[18:21] Kev: Toreador: Degenerates. Artisans. Torries. The glamorous, beautiful. Artists..innovators..these are your painters, musicians...and the like.
[18:22] Kev: Tremere. Warlocks. Magic users. Wizards. Unsurpers. Known for using Thaumaturgy.
[18:22] D.Thorn: Degenerate! (turns away in a huff)
[18:22] Kev: Ventrue. Bluebloods, Patricians. Warlords. One of the proudest of the vampire lines of honor. Genteel behavor. Very picky eaters.
[18:23] Kev: Lasombra: Leaders of the Sabbat. Keeprs. Shadows. Darwinist. Elegant. --but they do not believe in hiding even a little.
[18:23] Kev: Tzimisce. Haughty, perfectionest. Fanatics. Sorcerers.
[18:23] Kev: Gangrel: Vagabonds, drifters. Beasts. Outlanders. "Feral" but the most common description. "Damn Furry Loners."
[18:24] Kev: Followers of Set: Drug dealers, warm eyes, cold hearts. Universly hated clan in the vampire sects.
[18:24] Kev: Giovanni..the last I'm going to mention (I could keep going for quite a ways) ---Necromancers and Necrophiliacs. They like to...keep it in the family. I should say.
[18:24] Kev: *wiggles his eyebrow*
[18:25] Kate Silver: and independents?
[18:25] Garaan FitzroyGaraan Fitzroy notices Tmizie are not represented.
[18:25] Zealot Sunkiller: Assamite
[18:25] D.Thorn: ASS-amite (giggles)
[18:25] Kev: *nod* their are several, as I said. Assamites are known Assassins.
[18:25] Garaan Fitzroy: He must be camarilla scum
[18:25] Victoria VanTassel: setites...think that is how you spell it
[18:26] Kev: *grins* Lots of clans, however, let's discuss ....strengths. Can someone give me a vampire strength? What is a pro side of being a vampire?
[18:26] Garaan Fitzroy: Being hunting targets for Garou?
[18:26] Tori: Heightened senses?
[18:26] Victoria VanTassel: ...vampire strength lol physical I mean
[18:26] Jeffrey Martiel: Your own personal kind of freaky, apparantly.
[18:27] Kev: *grin*
[18:27] D.Thorn: you can fly in Legos
[18:27] Kev: Heightened senses, vampiric strength. Flying.
[18:27] Kev: What about speed?
[18:28] Kev: Vampires are historically very fast. If they wish to be. *smile*
[18:28] Gloriana Maertens: ...depends on how you play it, but that's common.
[18:28] Zealot Sunkiller: Vampires are know for quick reflexes and being very fast
[18:28] Kev: No other pro's to being a vampire?
[18:29] D.Thorn: you don't age
[18:29] Kev: You get a couple of great natural weapons. Sharp pointy teeth and the ability to drink blood to survive.
[18:29] Sephy: you mix well in the goth scene
[18:29] Jeffrey Martiel: I dont know much about Masquerade, but I assume each clan of vampires have their own different strengths.
[18:29] Kev: Indeed, but their are some that are general benefits.
[18:30] Kev: Most vampires for instance, heal better if they are put in a pool of blood. They tend to be a bit sturdier than humans, in that manner. Able to regenerate from grevious wounds over periods of time.
[18:31] Jeffrey Martiel: What extent does that regeneration apply?
[18:31] Kev: Now what about the cons, or the ways that vampires might be injured. I don't say killed..because I wish to make it clear that permanent death can only happen by player choice in Legacies.
[18:31] Zealot Sunkiller: garlic
[18:31] Kate Silver: sunlight
[18:32] Zealot Sunkiller: holy objects
[18:32] Garaan Fitzroy: Garou
[18:32] Leigh Luv: regeneration depends upon the persons RP Jeffery
[18:32] Kev: Jeffrey, mostly with Plausibility. --and the rp :)
[18:32] D.Thorn: fire
[18:32] Gloriana Maertens: Stakes. heart. poof.
[18:32] Zealot Sunkiller: cold blood/dead blood
[18:33] D.Thorn: creepy little vampire girls named Claudia
[18:33] Kate Silver: lol
[18:33] Kev: *nod* Some good examples of what some might play as a weakness, however, nobody can tell another character what their weakness may be. Some vampires, for instance, aren't affected by holy objects. depending upon their rp. Others get toasty with a bit of holy magic.
[18:33] Gloriana Maertens: Buffy?
[18:33] Jeffrey Martiel: Internal bleeding?
[18:33] Tori: Buffy! woot woot! -
[18:33] D.Thorn: Angel!
[18:33] Sephy: don't forget willow!
[18:33] Tori: the scoobies!
[18:34] Kev: Guys, let's stay on topic please.
[18:34] Jeffrey Martiel: Van Helsing?
[18:34] Leigh Luv: if I may
[18:34] D.Thorn: silver according to some folktales can affect werewolves AND vampires
[18:34] Kev: Of course Leigh.
[18:34] Sephy: another weakness could be being locked in a room for weaks, months or years and not feeding
[18:34] Sephy: weeks*
[18:34] Kate Silver: so in legacies some of those may not harm a particular vampire?
[18:35] D.Thorn: you can pick and choose. makes it fun to try and figure out what your character's weaknesses are.
[18:35] Jeffrey Martiel: How about internal bleeding? Even if their heart doesn't beat, blood powers pretty much everything they do.
[18:35] Kev: Hold up a sec guys, Leigh's typing something. *smile*
[18:38] Leigh Luv: this is not world of darkness game. as with everyone and every race each player has a choice of how they RP strengths and weaknesses but there are 2 specific things that should be congruent with all vampires. a stake to the hart will kill but not a permadeath...as that is only allowed if the player should choose it. cutting off their heads or burning a vamp is for most considered permadeath
[18:38] Leigh Luv: now
[18:38] Leigh Luv: when it comes to bleeding out internal injuries vamps CAN and will bleed out but it then becomes a state of torpor
[18:38] Leigh Luv: it is still a human body..arms can be broken.
[18:38] Kev: *nods* Exactly so, as I said in the beginning of the class, this is just basic information to help those that may be interested. It's not limitations and their's a TON of different lore you can follow.
[18:40] Persephone Kelaino PlutonianPersephone Kelaino Plutonian raises hand with a question
[18:41] Kev: I'd like to use an example of this...say if I walk up to a vampire and brandish a cross---it's that vampires choice on how they react to it. Some players rp that the christian faith evolved much later than the existence of vampires. Who have been in some form, story or culture, as far back as we know.
[18:41] Kev: Go ahead Persephone.
[18:41] No room to sit here, try another spot.
[18:42] Sephy: since the body of the vampire is still for the most part human, could poisons be a possible harm?
[18:42] D.Thorn: Like the Sumerian Edimmu
[18:44] Kev: It could be, yes. Depending upon the vampires rp. It might slow them down. Poisons are kind of like a potion, if you intend them to affect another character, you should probably fill out the potions/enchanted object notecard and see about getting it approved. http://larps.net/lc/topic/potionenchanted-object-information-card-for-players
[18:44] Leigh Luv: also depends on the vamp considering they are already dead I would say no but that does not stop the ability like poison them to now work so you would need to find a plausable way to injest said poison to a vamp...for instance through the drinking of their blood supply......if you have seen some vamp movies have it the only way a vamp can get drunk or drugged is through their blood doll.
[18:44] Sephy: are there any ready available? or do we have to craft?
[18:45] Kev: If you would want to rp a poison, you would have to craft it, would be my thoughts on it Sephy.
[18:45] Sephy: ok
[18:45] Sephy: thank you Both
[18:46] D.Thorn: Or get someone else to craft it who knows how?
[18:46] Kev: Now, one thing is universally true with the vampire race in Legacies (and some of the others) is that you can feed in a rather special way. ---to make this clear. The Challenge Rule Does Apply---and their may be Consciquences to doing so.
[18:46] Kev: But you can use the to feed as a vampire.
[18:46] K.D. Silvansky K.D. Silvansky attempts bitethem but misses
[18:47] Kev: But you can use the ../9bitethem to feed.
[18:47] Kev: Which I failed on the type on that *grin*
[18:47] Jeffrey Martiel: Can Vampires feed on other Vampires?
[18:48] Sephy: does the bite actually feed off the other player or do they have to click gorge also?
[18:48] Kev: It does actually feed off the other player Sephy.
[18:48] Sephy: ok
[18:48] Leigh Luv: biting feeds the character
[18:49] Kev: Also keep in mind that you could perhaps go to an alchemist or apothecary for a very standard item---like arsenic, as a poison--which is how we have the ability poisonthem
[18:49] Kev: A vampire could feed off of another vampire. Of course, following the Challenge Rule and realizing that their may be far expanding consciquences for it.
[18:50] Tori: ok so they are hypothetically subject to regular poisons that would affect a human? Or are there specific herbs that are damaging? Like the stereotypical garlic. lol -
[18:47] Jeffrey Martiel: Can Vampires feed on other Vampires?
Like the stereotypical garlic. lol
[18:52] Kev: It is a human-like body--I would think that a regular poison would have some effect, but maybe not as much as someone might hope. Again, this is up to the rp of the character, and how the dice work as well *smile*
[18:52] Tori: Ok thank you
[18:53] Zealot Sunkiller: dice - your best friend to kill your best friend
[18:53] Kev: *chuckles*
[18:53] Kev: Now one thing I want to include at this point--is the challenge rule. I'm sure you've heard me mention it.
[18:54] Kev: Can anyone tell me what the challenge rule is?
[18:54] D.Thorn: Geeting ooc permission from other character to attack them icly
[18:54] D.Thorn: forone
[18:54] D.Thorn: for one^
[18:54] Kev: Unfortunatley No.
[18:55] Leigh Luv: raises eyebrow..that is a new answer
[18:55] Kate Silver: lines of rp showing intention?
[18:55] D.Thorn: oh, guess i'm mixed up
[18:57] Kev: The Challenge Rule: Before you attack make sure you have met teh challenge rule: This is 2 short posts indicating intention- You must be acknowledged by the person before you can procede with an attack. (the purpose of the challenge rule is to let someone know that ooc that something is getting ready to happen. this does NOT nessicarily mean that this is known Icly....for instance you can rp sneaking up on someone, roll for it, and succeed. Once they have responded. You can make another post, perhaps drawing a weapon. They respond again. At that point, you can attack. The character ICLY does not know you are going to attack, but they do OOC know it.
[18:57] Kev: This keeps people out of IM boxes, and keeps it fully immersive.
[18:59] Kev: The reason I mention this is because Many vampires go out and hunt. They still have to meet the challenge rule.
[19:00] Kate Silver: and if you've been on for hours and it's time to log off? someone challenges you?
[19:02] Leigh Luv: as we all respect each other OOCly we are a community, you want to keep the full immersion, but you also need to log..you can simply RP an exit and IM them and let them know...that you need to go to RL....it is that simple and they should respect your request...however on the other side of the same coin. please respect your fellow players RP and do not use it as an excuse to..."get out of consequenses either." smiles
[19:02] Sephy: I have a question about challenge rule - based on something that happened to me ICly
[19:02] Kev: Go ahead Sephy.
[19:04] Sephy: Someone challenged one of my other characters. I was ready to make a response but they immediately used a chain on me
[19:04] Sephy: What would be the proper response to that?
[19:05] Kev: Well first of all Sephy, you always have a right to call for an ST if you believe your going to be in a conflict situation--that's one of the reasons we exist. We referee conflicts to make sure that everything is fair to both players. You can always call an ST by typing /9ST
[19:06] Sephy: ok thats what I did
[19:06] Kev: If they did not wait for a response and immediatley got into combat, you could call for an ST immediatley, and ask them politely in IM to wait for an ST to referee.
[19:07] Kev: At this point, I'll open for any other questions.
[19:07] Tori: Approximately how many bites can one sustain before defeat?
[19:08] Sephy: oh good question
[19:08] Tori: if you are full health?
[19:08] Leigh Luv: that depends on the player and their levels, not to mention how much does one bite
[19:09] Kev: A lot of that depends upon how big and bad the vampire is that bites you. *smile* the meter figures that out. I've seen a bite take most of player's health, and then I've seen five or even six bites required.
[19:09] Leigh Luv: you cannot spam a bite either
[19:09] Tori: So they are only allowed to bite you once?
[19:09] Kate Silver: spam a bite?
[19:09] SKY: Is the idea here to be totally reliant on rolling dice and calling st's the second there's an issue? In some ways I feel people aren't willing to have a good rp session. This is just a newcomer's early POV.
[19:09] Sephy: thank LaRPS gods
[19:10] Leigh Luv: if you will allow me the time to answer
[19:10] Kev: I'll let you take that one Leigh *smile*
[19:10] Kev: For those of you who do not know, this is Leigh Luv, one of the Storyteller and Moderators here in Legacies *grin* She's keeps me on track and from making blunders *grin*
[19:11] ShadowpondShadowpond knows :) and thanks *smiles back*
[19:12] Sephy: Thank you
[19:12] Leigh Luv: the reason we use the dice is for one that is what this game is...we use the dice to enhance your RP to give you a true element of chance and remove that just because you say it does not make it so...the action for instance bitethem can be used it is a dice roll as well as everything is with the LaRPS...your character develops based on dicerolls, actions,, abilities that you may use as your RP and play this game.
[19:14] Kev: The reason to call a storyteller is simple. We can post enviromentals if the enviroment is changed---record damage to the enviroment, as well as referee between players in a conflict. We're here to assist players in their rp.
[19:14] K.D. Silvansky : ((Rev. Arthur Ellis II is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:14] K.D. Silvansky : ((Shadowpond is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:14] K.D. Silvansky : ((Akash Londolozi is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:14] Kate Silver: thank you
[19:15] Kev: Are their any other questions?
[19:15] D.Thorn: i have one
[19:15] Kev: Go ahead while I pass out cookies Dire :)
[19:15] Zealot Sunkiller: I have an unrelated question for Leigh - that I would like to ask in IM if that is alright?
[19:15] D.Thorn: How would you rp using a /9 command, like /9chainthem or /9 freezethem? Just rp that you're going to do that, let them respond icly, and then type the command? Or are the /9 command attacks only supposed to be used against npcs like the zombies and spiders?
[19:15] SKY: ok the reason I ask is that my character met another, gave it a piece of food, and the person immediately called an ST for example.
[19:15] Leigh Luv: orf course Zealot
[19:15] K.D. Silvansky : ((Dtriobloid is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:15] SKY: I know not everyone is the same obviously
[19:15] K.D. Silvansky : ((Glori is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:16] K.D. Silvansky : ((Persephone Kelaino Plutonian is given 1000 experience points.))
[19:16] smirks as she stares at Dorian. she lookes then about to the shadows hoping that they would grab him and freeze them inplace
[19:16] Leigh Luv: then use /9freezethem
[19:16] Kev: Sky, if I can assist you on why an ST was called in that particular example? :: The player was not interested in the food...or rather..the food you where giving. They where interested in You as the Food *grin*
[19:16] Leigh Luv: it all deepnds on how you RP it
[19:16] SKY: lol
[19:16] SKY: ok ok
[19:16] K.D. Silvansky : ((Lady Victoria D'Arcille is given 1000 experience points.))
