Ok I have to say this or I am going to blow up...I am not going to name any names because this has happened to me more then once in more then one RP. But Many SL Rps claim to be Free form Including Legacies and for the most Part Legacies is. But I have found RPing with some people they want to control the outcome of the RPs. Thats not Free form...where is the imagination? Free form is meant to be unpredictable interesting not controlled by someones script. This rant is about that...come on some of you need to understand Free form things happen. I remember a RP I was in with my wife....nothing went our way but we did not stop people from changing the outcomes of the RP even if we did not like it. It went the way it went and thats the way Free Form is suppose to go.

This Rant was brought to you by Rune Crimson. Not to start Drama but to release an opinion and just release what I could not release in game.

    Thank You and Happy RPing.

Great issue Rune. As i see it, many RPers come from other places that allow GodMod of scenes. Legacies is very different as we don't allow GodMod and have dice rolls to provide a random path based on the traits of your character. When the dice roll fails, many players would choose to ignore it and therein lays the problem.

Legacies is all about having respect for your fellow RPer and when this breaks, you not only lose out on some great scenes, but also make enemies OOCly.

    *GROUP HUG* or else :P

Freeform means you are not constricted to follow any region storyline... you are given freedom to make up your own story. Base it on how plausible it is and use the dice to provide that surprise factor and have fun with it.

FAILS ARE GOOD! That's how we evolve and learn.

Exactly Trijin THANK YOU. My point exactly.

I would argue there is a point where, even with a roll, there is a lack of realism. For example, I roll a discover to try and find the wallet on a potential pickpocket target, but the target has no wallet visible, it's someplace under their clothing. I don't see a wallet to pickpocket from, even with my discovery success. To think I could still pickpocket them with any reasonable success ratio would be insane.

Also, some RP is not so much scripted as just intended to be drawn out over a day or two at least. Maybe some people are to be involved because it was a plot designed for them, to their benefit. Perhaps someone -requested- to be involved and would feel really left out and upset that they got ignored because someone already jumped in and saved the day.

It is not bad to be the hero, but sometimes it's nice to let other folks have fun too. Challenge yourself a little, or let the challenge be there at least. Failure is good, sometimes, as you just agreed.

All well and Good Padishar but things like that is not keeping to Free Form ways. Meaning if someone decideds hey I want this RP to last 2 weeks I am going to stop everyone who just so happens to RP doing something til I want it to happen. Many things can be drawn out if a hero comes in and saves the day locate his butt and kick his butt and take back what he saved ect. Instead of stopping his RP just cause the script says so. I have many times wanted RPs to go on I started but someone came in and Free Formed their way to a victory. I went with it..the next day I Rped going after them...and kept the RPing as long as I wanted to not messing with what everyone else did. Its a matter of what the dice say and how things just HAPPEN to fall.
