    *The Arrival*

Furyo descended through the sky at an alarming rate of speed, tumbled and pushed by the winds and rain that tormented the seas between his origin and where he would come to a harsh crash. As his body hit the wooden deck of the abandoned ship that was being tossed about in the fray, so too would he find his body thrown into the lower cabin whose door was swinging loosely open upon weather-worn hinges.

Awakening in a daze as the water upon the ship's belly splashed into his face, gagging him into consciousness, he sensed the danger of his surrounding situation, and dragged himself to a standing yet unsteady position. Making his way out of the cabin, he realized the sort of vessel he had come to land upon. As he looked around, he spotted the Captain's wheel, and moved to it, taking a firm grip upon it's handles to steer it, though aimlessly as he focused more on not losing consciousness or his footing, as he was carried across the seas.

As the storm surged, his body was tossed violently away from the wheel as the ship became wrecked by the force of the gale, the waves washing over the deck, sweeping him off his feet and knocking him out upon a section of the side railing. When he awoke again, he found himself amid the spread of broken boards, scattered supplies, and (luckily) a lifeboat that was still intact. Wasting no time to search the scattered items, he quickly climbed aboard the small craft, taking a broken plank for a paddle in hand as he looked around for the nearest solid land mass and set off towards it, his speed of travel hastened by his severe dislike of the waters around him and unknown creatures kept within the vast depths, as he made his way from the destruction, until he came to.. Legacies Harbor..

Reaching a small dock, he secured the wooden sailing vessel to a post as best he could with the ropes that were wrapped around it, and would step out of the small craft; weak, tired, disoriented, and in pain. Still somehow, he dragged himself onto the dock, half stumbling towards the steps, away from the water's edge, before collapsing once and for all in the small space beneath the stairs. With a sigh of relief the last of his energy would escape him, sinking him once more into unconsciousness.

    *New Surroundings*

With his energy restored, his body having healed during his time of rest, Furyo crawled out from under the steps and stared down at the lifeboat that brought him the remainder of his path to where he was now. A shudder rippled through him as he thought about what might have happened if he had not been so lucky with the ship's wreck, knowing he was not an aquatic creature, and surely would have succumbed to drowning in the vast depths of the ocean had he been forced to swim. Shaking the realization away, he turned his attention to the steps that had given him shelter, knowing it was suitable enough to provide him housing yet again if he should have need until he came across a better location.

Making his way up the stairs, he found himself staring in awe at tall buildings and other structures he had never seen before. His natural curiosity pulled him towards it, wanting to explore his new surroundings, to know more about where he was. His place of origin was nothing like this; Everything he saw was foreign, strange, and unusual. As he wandered the streets, his nose picked up a scent which he could not identify, and he followed it until he came across a small shop, with a very large and gruff voiced man calling out to no one in particular. Hanging to the male's left was a stock of meat, sickly colored and giving off a putrid smell. This was the source of the scent, and though it was sickly to look upon, it made the creature's stomach growl in hunger.

As he reached up for the meat, the large male grunted and narrowed his eyes, challenging the creature with a silent threat. Giving a wry smile, Furyo lowered his hand and backed away, turning his eyes from the beast, and wandered off in another direction. Soon along his travels, he came across two interesting looking animals that stood on four legs, with muscular bodies and long faces. Approaching them cautiously, he reached forward and placed a hand upon the side of one, which immediately made a sound of protest and pulled back, startling the creature. Again, he would move on down the road, wandering until he heard distant voices. Climbing a wall nearby, he would leap over the top of it's ledge, landing in a crouch from which he remained positioned as he looked around for the source of conversation. To his right, he saw a pair of beings in unusual attire standing across the street at a distance.

Keeping to the side of the street he was on, with a railing to his own right side, he moved closer and listened in with his large ears as he passed one lamppost, and came near to a second one. It was a male and female, standing close to one another. The male appeared to be interested in the small vermin that scurried around on the ground past the railing on the opposite side of the road, scratching and squeaking as they moved about. Whatever he was attempting was proving unsuccessful. Assuming he was desiring to manipulate the small vermin, the creature called out advice(as was his nature to do, even when not warranted), that if to try and bend something's will to their own, it would be logical to study their habits, and appeal to their sense of intent.

Furyo's presence immediately found itself in the gaze of the female, who held in her hand a sharp instrument coated with a red liquid, which she had moved to her mouth to savor the taste of the fluid. She spoke in response, about use of an instrument called a "flute" to do such things; strangely enough, the creature found himself dancing about moments later, unknowing as to how this was happening, as it was not of his intent or desire. This appeared to amuse the female, causing Furyo to cry out in distress, pleading for it to end, and almost instantaneously it did. Sinking to his knees, he presumptuously asked the female how she had caused his actions to become not of his own, to which she denied association or participation of. A wave of energy seemed to flood his mind then, making him forget the occurrence, setting his memories to the point of approaching the second lamppost, his thoughts bearing to the interest of discovering more of his surroundings.

From the female, he learned that he was in a place called London, and that it was a vast stretch filled with various buildings, shops, and people. An Inn was mentioned, and this brought the creature to think of food once more, his stomach growling loudly to cause his hands to settle atop his midsection. In response to his mental acknowledgement of a need for sustenance, his belly was immediately filled and his hunger erased. This did not alarm him, for it was one of the natural abilities of his kind. They hungered, but could sustain themselves without need for eating, but such was tasteless and left them seeking the savory sentiments of flavor, and was why they always desired food.

In his distractions, his ears overheard the introductions made between the male and female to one another. She had called herself "Miss Caproni", and he was "Diemas". Neither inquired the creature of his name, but this did not bother him any, as it was not often any did. To his views, it did not have any importance for them to know his name, and may not have given it even had they asked. Before his attention could return to them, for to ask of more information, Miss Caproni stated a need to attend to other matters, and so he watched as she walked off. Furyo would arch a brow as she paused, became visually frustrated about something, and stormed off in aggitation.

Diemas remained to continue his intrigued focus upon the vermin nearby, much to the creature's surprise as one began to dance, it's squeaking becoming distressed in tone as it did. This seemed to satisfy the male, who then also excused himself. Quickly, the creature asked how it was that it was possible to have influenced it, without the item called a "flute" as the female had implied. Diemas answered that it was a skill known as "hypnosis" and procceeded to walk away. Furyo was left to himself, watching the Diemas depart before moving to where the pair had stood, looking down at the vermin as he wondered how he could too learn such a skill.

    *The Eyes of Observation*

After wandering his way back to his makeshift nest spot beneath the steps of the harbor and having a quick rest to contemplate the knowledge absorbed (though light as it was), again Furyo set out to explore further. As he walked, he found eyes upon him, staring at him. He would have stared back, but in his distraction of noticing the stares, the creature found himself nearly run over by the beast-pulled carriages that roamed the streets. Forcing himself out of the way, he pressed against the wall of a nearby shop. When they passed, he found the owner of one of the sets of eyes moving closer as if to study him. Before he could react, in the blink of an eye, the individual seemed to simply.. vanish..

Within moments another being approached, catching him by surprise in their arrival. This being came not only with curious eyes but extended a greeting as well, to Furyo's relief, until another simply appeared upon his other side and hovered as it stared upon him. The pair were of the peculiar sort to the creature, as they had upon their heads long strangely shaped protrusions, which they revealed during his inquiry regarding to be 'horns' and were usually accompanied by strange looking feet called 'hooves'. As one had shifted into a natural human form similar to that of the female being he had spoken with the day before, he presumed with inquiry that their kind (which had been clarified as 'Djinn') were of the Mystic type, though was quickly corrected with the learning that they were in fact more of a Wishmaster species, and that more were perhaps likely to arrive.

After some conversation, the first of the pair (who had introduced herself as being called "Bunny") invited him to join her at the establishment named Ten Bells with promise to pay for something called 'lunch'. He knew not what this something was, however, if it gave him sustenance he needed, and new flavors to enjoy.. There was no reason to turn this offer down. In show of courtesy, he returned the kindness by sharing his name with her. Before they could depart, yet another came upon their location introducing herself as "Doctor Katherine Foxtrotter" and asking questions of varying sorts to which the creature could not answer. She rode upon a four-legged beast, much as that which he had seen around, learning through this moment from the female that the beast was called a 'horse', and it was the same sort which pulled the carriages around the streets.

In his observations, he noticed then that the beast had hooves also, that were strangely much like that which his companion Bunny had, but no horns. Further conversation revealed mention and information regarding another beast said to reside somewhere in the lands nearby called a "Hydra", spoken of as being extremely large, heavy, and aquatic. Being that Furyo was disliking of anything connected to watery areas, his attention pulled stronger once again to his desire to receive the offering of 'lunch'.

When yet ANOTHER female approached, and inquired of something he knew nothing about, the creature was able to slip away with his companion to head off towards their destination. Within, there were a few other beings already present, which set him into a state of unease, as they too cast their eyes upon him. Bunny was kind enough to keep her promise of providing him means to afford the sustenance found there, and he shook off the observant stares as they settled down at a table within the establishment. The opportunity to enjoy the moment was short lived, for the female found herself being called away, leaving Furyo alone where he sat.

    *Rage and Revelations*

Feeling abandoned and betrayed, rage overcame Furyo as he sat at the table following his companion's departure, and he violently knocked the bowl of stew before him to the floor without having even tasted it. This drew attention to him from a pair that sat together at a table across the establishment. It intrigued the creature through his angered state when the male and female seemed unaffected by his state of mind, and proceeded to invite him to join them. It was not until a flash of fangs from the male, and the direct approach and invitation to him from the female, that he found himself willing to oblige.

Taking the female's kindly outstretched hand, he allowed her to lead him over to where they had been situated, and settled once more. The pair introduced themselves to him; He was called "Stanford" and she was called "Spiderrella". Curious about the fangs, a simple inquiry gained him an explanation that the male was of the kind called "Nosferatu", or "Vampire", though the detailing of what such a thing truly entailed confused Furyo, leaving him with more questions than answers. Taking a mental note to discuss further about such topics with the male later, he finally introduced himself to them, and explained that he was an outcast, sent to where he was now as punishment for speaking out of place among his own kind, by way of a theory he developed regarding what would happen if his kind and the beings of the place called "Earth" were to attempt to co-exist. His kind rejected his views, saying that this could never and would never be, and sent him to that place to live out the remainder of his life-cycles. The theory he held fast to, and shared with his company:

    ~Civilized Comprehension~

Once in a time unknown by man, was created a world within his world. This new world was named Civilization, and its people did no wrong. These people were abstractly perfect, and henceforth called Civilians, who worked their way into human society, which was corrupt.

Those from Civilization referred to the people of the corrupt world as He, She, They, or It; while referring to themselves a I, We, or Us. The Civilians were good hearted and kind, whereas the Others, who were all sons of God, were corrupted by Adam and Eve for all eternity.

The Civilians worked furiously to spread the love of Civilization onto man, but their methods were -in the minds of the Others- unorthodox. Body Jumping, Soul Transport, Mind Infiltration and Manipulation, Mind Reading, Spiritual Healing, and other such methods were called "SIN" by man, yet also called "LIFE" by the Civilians.

When man used his own corrupt views against the Civilians, those who fell were not of Civilization anymore, nor were they Civilians again. The Fallen were there and forever a member of man known there as Villians, and those who were standing -still- are referred yet as Civilians.

The times had changed since the battle, and wreckage left sorrow and hatred for the corrupt mankind within the Civilians, for they too were changed with the battle and the fall of their world.. The fall of Earth's Civilization..

    ..And I am a Civilian..

    ~*~

After further discussion with the pair, the creature expressed a desire to continue to learn, and expand his mental abilities. He sought the presence of what his kind called the "Collective", which was an archive of various information to provide such learning. At his company's departing suggestion that he should seek out someone who might know more about the area, and the presence of such an archive, he turned his attention onto a familiar face within the establishment. Once more he found himself in the presence of Doctor Katherine Foxtrotter, who was seeming to have quite the heated discussion with a male near the establishment's counter. Unable to get a response with two attempts to get the female's attention, finally he found himself successful and was given both a piece of advice to pursue methods of observation and personal discovery for higher learning, as well as a suggestion to seek out something called a "Library". With this information in hand, Furyo took his leave from Ten Bells, and began his search anew.

    *Battle of the Mind*

A new day brought hope for the creature, as he set his sights on learning new things. Upon his searching the day before, he was given directions to a bookshop, a piece of a map, and found himself almost skinned alive by a being that referred to himself as a "Rat Hunter". Luckily, Furyo was found to be not quite fitting of the characteristics of a vermin species, was given a stay of execution, and sent on his way.

The location he was sent to was not that which he had expected, for what he stumbled upon was a magick shop, filled with books about herbs, potions, charms, and spells. Though the neighborhood was to his distaste, something about the establishment calmed him and inspired his curiosity. He took the time to look through the materials of interest, finding useful information to support development of new skills, which combined his intellectual nature and a mystical/magickal enhancing.

As it were, his mind was something of a massive memory bank, allowing him to take information in and store it for later recollection without need of written pages, which saved him time and energy as he was not required to carry any belongings (save for the coins he kept stashed in a location with his spade and bucket). Empowered with new teachings to practice, he went on his way, exploring once more as he tended to do.

Finding his way back into the main part of town that he was growing increasingly more familiar with, he began to take in the sights such as that of the hospital. Something about the smells that remained stagnant within it's chambers, the intrigue of healing of a physical nature rather than the nostalgic mental or spiritual aspect, and a faint whisper that called out to him upon his opening of the entrance doors, led him to look around inside. While poking about, he was interrupted by a rather attractive and kindly female, who inquired of his status within the facility, to which he admitted having none. With a piece of advice to touch nothing, for sake of preserving sterility of the utensils and supplies, she left him to his bidding.

Later on, further exploration and wandering about the land found Furyo within a cemetery, for which he was most uncomfortable, what with his ears again picking out faint whispers that would call out to him, making the hair on his furry body stand on end. What contemplation it created in his mind, for the separation of life and death, were it that the departed could speak to those of the living. Outside the walls of the hallowed ground, he sat and contemplated for long hours, leaned against the railing overlooking the water below. Feeling that perhaps he might find better understanding from a return to the magick shop and searching the volumes of information there, the creature began to walk the path leading past the cemetery gates and down to a bridge that stretched to another area, wrapped deep within his scattered thoughts.

No sooner would he reach the section at the top of the steps, when he found himself face to rear with a horse whose rider seemed to find the creature's distractions quite humorous. Within company of this male, were two females, to whom Furyo found a surprise that he had already encountered each! First was the female whom had spoken with him earlier in the hospital, the second being that which had stared at him the day before and vanished moments after. Conversations between the lot progressed with little for exchange beyond small banter, until a new presence arrived. When this new addition to company spoke to challenge the groups presence, a sensation of rage washed over the creature that led him to begin arguing with the being, fueling what would come to be a very interesting battle of the mind for Furyo.

Found as an unworthy opponent after failing to defend himself mentally against a influencing frenzy rage, the confused creature was discarded to the side, as the aggressor male turned his sights on one of the females, and ensued to battle with her. Insulted by the discarding, Furyo attempted to use his new found learning of the mind manipulation ability of Illusion upon the large bully, hoping to create a distraction for those in danger to escape. Much to his dismay, he was unsuccessful. Again, he would try, and once more he would fail. He was just not ready for the practical use of the skill even though he was much in need of it in this moment, and the being was far superior in his defenses. A third time, he tried to influence the aggressor, only to have his attempt backlash upon himself to leave him in a state of confusion. The creature suffered a severe damaging of his senses for a time, as he found the desired illusion playing against his own mind, leaving him hearing the sounds of battle but seeing no other beings around him.

Fighting to recover from his plight, Furyo found sanity slowly slipping away from his grasp. Common sense reminded him that he was in the presence of a battle between the aggressor male, and his female target; Hearing confirmed what his common sense knew; Sight told of a peaceful scene, exactly where he was, but alone to his own company. The creature's mind found this highly illogical, so much to the extent that he began doubting his own reality, believing he was in danger despite being in a calm visual surrounding as a soldier returning from a war might experience in response to sounds that would remind them of combat.

As his mind regained a gradual control over the effects of the backlash of the Illusion, vision became slightly clearer, faint wisps of bodies combating upon the steps not much of a stone's throw away from the wall he was positioned against. Foolishly the creature would make one final attempt to lash out (though effectively in a blind and reckless manner) and create a distraction against the aggressive force that had brought about a rage within him, only to once again fail. Using his better judgement Furyo began looking around for an escape route, knowing that if the male were to defeat his current opponent that he himself might be next.

Although it was a favorable skill among his kind, that where reproduction was a rare and regulated occurrence, the species had the ability to regenerate their life-cycle; though few were given allowance to do so. It was not within the creature's desire to exercise the use of this ability, for it was both unusual to be needed and extremely painful. The Civilian species was a non-violent type, so it was generally not necessary for them to regenerate. Few ever experienced this point of need, and so many would only hear of it while few would know what it was like.

When he finally overcame the last of the effects of the backlash, returning full visual and perceptional identifications of his surroundings, Furyo turned himself towards the wall that had been at his back for a majority of the battle. With as much height as he could gain in a vertical leap, his claws would find their grip upon the spaces between the stone bricks and allow him proper stability to scale the wall's face, where once cleared he would dash off into the distance to safety.

    *Exploration and Investigation*

It was not uncommon for the creature to wander around, trying to absorb as much information as possible; Furthermore, it was not uncommon for him to meddle in matters that truly were not his to concern with. Logistical analysis of situations always drew theoretical assumption, which led to higher understanding and a deeper thought proccess for him. This in itself was a mixed blessing for Furyo, where as it was that which caused the unjust banishment from his place of origin, yet it found him on new adventures at every turn he took.

A simple notice of a sign near the railway tracks outside of Ten Bells, bearing a label and an arrow, led him to a wall of a building with a knocker upon it. When three knocks gave no answer, he pulled upon it, and the wall opened to an odd gallery assortment of relics he had not seen before, most having never heard of before either. A door within the building led him onto a street, where walking about lost in thought found him in an area which yielded to his attentions another door, lying open among many that were closed. To the creature, his perception was simple: An open door is an open invitation; and so his meddling curiosity drew him to take a look inside the run down and slightly unsettling (yet seemingly unoccupied) space, which found him in notice of yet another open door within.

Furyo made his way swiftly towards the new room, his eyes never ceasing to scan the area he passed through, his ears ever listening for sounds to give way to the presence of another. Within the room he found a faint scent, which reminded him of the same kind his nose identified at the battle the day before, though then it was fresh where this was old and unrecognizable to it's source. It was the telltale scent of blood. Upon the wall he found writing sprawled across in red text, the source of the scent; it's message strangely familiar. "SHE MADE ME DO IT"; below this was written: "REDDRUM"; but where had the creature seen this very message before? He thought hard, wracking his mind for a reminder of the first time he had seen this, and then it dawned on him. The day he was exploring the hospital, he had come across a curious display of a bloodied head, and a report regarding the findings of the scene from whence it came. It referenced the same message, except that the latter message in the report read "CAVEO ABYSSUS". As he contemplated the connection, his curiosity grew about the deeper matter behind the location he was in and that which was referenced in the report.

The creature worked his mind, slowly drawing out logical points between the two before pulling them together in theoretical presumption. Soon he had found a basis to start with, realizing quickly with a disturbing thought that this was something very big and very dangerous, but still Furyo knew that there would be no true rest until he knew the answer of the mystery that plagued him. Who wrote these words on the wall in blood? Whose blood was it? Who was 'SHE'? What did 'SHE' make them do?; All of these questions and more drove through his mind, creating an aching in his brain, leading him to seek rest so that he could sort out his discoveries.

Finding his way back to the railroad tracks he made his way into Ten Bells, seeking refuge with his distractions. Not long did he find himself there when his ears overheard a conversation unfolding, between a decrepit old man in a rocking chair and a female, that struck the creature's interest. Again, the meddlesome nature of Furyo's took control, and he approached before inquiring clarification to points he had heard of a tale the old man told. Somehow the day was fated to start him on a quest to seek out this mystery to it's end, as he soon discovered (with the drunk ramblings of the female who called herself "Wyld") a disturbing connection between the tale of a bastard child, the bloody messages, and the dark torment that was believed to be held over the land. The creature used every possible means of indulgence he could muster himself to partake to get as many answers from the woman as he could, as well as an attempt to persuade her return to find him for further discussion on the matters, to continue his intrigue of the mystery that had begun to unfold. The hunt was on!

*Royal Albert Hall and An Unusual Find*

Lost in the overflow of information he had gathered, Furyo took to a new day with the start of his now common habit of wandering about. It always seemed to help him think and process when he was in motion, and usually was the point of his mind turning the scraps of facts into theory, and further into decisiveness. Something troubled him though, as he passed through the city that slowly was becoming more familiar to him; He could not understand where the flow was taking him. Sighing he would shake away the thoughts, finding his gaze locked upon a massive building in the distance, whose outer size and design had a comforting familiarity on his conscious.

Moving towards the entrance, posted just outside the open archway he found a notice like that which he had seen elsewhere around the city, speaking of an event called the "Philharmonic Orchestra". With an arched brow he proceeded inward, finding himself in awe at the structure's interior crafting. Long curved rows of seats, tall pillars supporting the roof and upper balconies, a wide stretched stage; it reminded him of the facilities his own kind were oft to use for gatherings to discuss matters of intellect, theoretical perspective, and to formulate decisive resolutions to many of their creative outlets. Aloud the creature would speak to himself, calling his location a Meeting Hall, to which he was shortly after corrected by a female whose presence within he had not taken notice of. She told him of how it was, in fact, a place used for concerts, operas, benefits, and other such events; and that the building's name was "Royal Albert Hall".

Intrigued as he was to hear of the true designation of the building, the creature was struck by the fragmented resemblance between the name and something which he had been told by his informant from Ten Bells. It would take him a short while to place the correlation, but soon he did indeed connect the dots. This was what had been referred to him within the statement "Prince Albert Victor, son of Queen Victoria, who they made that fancy hall for."; With a gleam of hope for his designation to see where this mystery led, Furyo thanked the female and rushed out the door to continue his investigation with a renewed enthusiasm.

Once outside in the open air his head swiveled around, trying to seek out his next destination, only to find his sight fallen upon the structure of a gazebo directly ahead of him in the distance. Once more the informant's tales flooded his mind along side the details of the hospital report he had discovered, recollections amassing from one point to the next and leaving his head throbbing. It was almost as if the creature's brain was putting together a puzzle, only to tear it down, and rework it into position again; all at a lightning flash pace: The informant Wyld ran the settlement called Huet Hall down the street from the carousel; The carousel was torn down to be replaced by an ice rink; The ice rink was replaced by a gazebo; The beheaded body was discovered at the park by the carousel; The gazebo before him was in a park..

With a gasp, Furyo darted across the distance towards the gazebo with his eyes looking around hungrily, coming to a stumbling halt as he finally saw it; Upon the ground, on the walkway of stones, a red stain. Hastily he moved to it, and gazed upon the location, barely able to read the writing though able to make out the message "SHE MADE ME DO IT" along with something more that was quite illegible. Kneeling down so that his nose was inches above it, the creature began sniffing at it to try and pick up the same scent that had been within the abandoned room, but was unable to. With a sigh of both disappointment and satisfaction he rose to his feet to observe the scene, trying to imagine what happened at that location, taking notice that the last part appeared to have been subject to an intentional act of a removal, with footprints leading away towards the Hospital.

A return to the medical facility led him again to the room where he found the report, where a trapdoor led to a gruesome room of morbidity. Hastily he bolted from the place, finding himself slightly lost and disorientated within a sewer tunnel maze. Happening upon a large crate, he noticed what appeared to be a piece of paper beneath it; This prompted the creature to move the object the best he could, as his curiosity would not have him leave without seeing what was there. His eyes glazed over with intrigued excitement at the sight of the object, which appeared to be some kind of map or diagram, taking into memory the image held upon it before he reached down to obtain the document, only to have it fade away at his touch.

Once more his thoughts fell upon the document, as well as the report by the severed bloody head, and again his mind began to formulate a theory: The portion after the main message on the stones that cannot be read.. must be the final statement.. "CAVEO ABYSSUS" indicated in the Hospital Report..; Though not a linguist, he understood this well.. "Beware of the Abyss". A shudder ran down Furyo's spine as another of his informant's tales pulled at his mind along with that of the old man from Ten Bells; The portal.. The Nexxus.. The Abyss.. Was he in over his head?

  9. Deteric Furyo | September 15, 2011 - 06:26 PM

    *Lessons in Magick*

The creature could not figure out what his reasoning behind the continuance of his investigation was; the more he searched for clues, the more he uncovered details that drew it all together, the more concerned he became for his safety. Around every turn, he began feeling as though he was being watched, the whispers his ears picked up never bearing an entity behind them, while paranoia slowly started to overcome his mind. Still, Furyo could not cast his curiosity aside and pressed on with his quest for answers; this was his burden.. his self inflicted curse.

Returning to the open space of the city, a course set within his conscious mind, he made his way back along the streets to the Book Stack; here he hoped to uncover some information about the Abyss. It puzzled him as to what the warning spoke of, "Beware of the Abyss", because he did not know what such a place was. Along the way, he discovered a GREEN GEMSTONE lying in the open on the street, to which he curiously looked around for the presence of any others to whom it might belong, before taking it into possession. Surely it had some value to it, or purpose.

To his dismay a short time after his arrival at his destination, he found himself distracted within the shop by the volumes relating to herbs and potion preparation, as well as an intrigue towards the application of magicks. The creature wondered if it was possible for an intellectual natured being such as himself to learn these abilities, and develop the skills in his existence. Logical analysis told him that it was not allowable, for this course of teaching was not the way of his kind; Theoretical musings told him that anything was possible if he was given the proper instruction, but this would only be foreseeable if he ever found an instructor. With a chuckle, Furyo made his way out of the shop, uncertain of his next destination.

As he closed the shop door behind him and turned to descend the steps to the street he found a Raven sitting on the stoop, staring at him for a moment before issuing a loud report ("CAW!") that echoed off the buildings down the vacant streets. The corner of the creature's mouth curved up uneasily, and tried to move around it. "CAW!" it cried out again, hopping to the bottom of the short steps and directly into his path. Still it stared at him, as if trying to get his attention, as if it did not want him to leave. Lowering it's beak it began to pull at a string upon it's leg, releasing from the holding a rolled up parchment that had been attached there. The Raven shook loose the note and kicked it forward to Furyo's feet, to which the creature reluctantly and slowly leaned down to retrieve. Upon opening it, he read the following message:

(It is with great pleasure that I announce the grand opening of the Triumverate School of Magic. Orientation begins this evening at 5:00 pm SLT on the second floor of the Overlord's Keep with a meet and greet to follow. Please contact Serenity Catronis - Head Mistress for further details.)

The creature found himself more suspicious than before as he eyed the Raven, which seemed to wait for a response from him. What was going on? He sought answers, and went to the book store. He became intrigued once more with the prospect of applying magicks to his intellectual existence, and knew he would need lessons if to hold it as more than a curiosity. Now, a flying beast arrived with an invitation for him to attend this.. Triumverate School of Magic. Was this just coincidence? What was this place he had not heard of before? Where was this Overlord's Keep? Who was Serenity Catronis? Was this a trap set to throw him off course because he was getting closer each day to figuring out the mystery he had been investigating? He knew there was only one way to find out.

Asking aloud mostly to himself, Furyo inquired how he would possibly find his way to the location of the mysterious summons; the bird itself to issue a call in response, hopping a few feet away, turning back to face him, and repeating the action yet again. Slightly humored at the thought of a flying beast so small understanding him, when he could not understand it, he gave in once more to curiosity and let it lead him away from the stoop and down the street.

With every step he took, his mind became awash with a lulling haze. The creature found himself suddenly awake once more outside the massive double doors of a stone building moments later, with the Raven sitting upon the steps before him. As the bird moved forward the entrance swung open, prompting it to fly inside where upon reaching the threshold it issued one final call and vanished, leaving Furyo looking upon a group of gathered individuals who apparently had gathered in response to the same invitation as that which he had received.

Before he could ascertain his present location, the group began to make their way up a spiral staircase. Quickly he would follow at the back, unfamiliar with the new surroundings, and unclear as to how he had actually arrived there (the dazed sensation having left him with no true memory of the travel). Furyo's mind churned with thoughts and theories as he tried to take in as much to memory as he could of his surroundings, moving with the mass of beings into the instructed classroom they filed into. A couple faces were recognizable to him but only one did he know the name of; that being the ever inquisitive Doctor Katherine Foxtrotter; so when the host of the gathering requested everyone to find a seat, he did make certain to find a seat near her, and listened as the speaker introduced herself as "Professor Serenity Catronis" and her nearby associate as "Professor Alexander Smith". The creature realized that the speaker was also that which had been named as the sender of the invitation.. The Headmistress..

Per directive from the Headmistress, around the room the gathered group of aspiring students introduced themselves and why they were there. His eyes scanned the room from face to face as he connected the names to the beings that owned them, until he was the last one remaining. Following his nervous greeting, orientation began with the discussion of the various Magick types, their subgroups, and what each were used for, or useful for. To the creature's misfortune the amount of information he attempted to take in was more than he could handle at once for that time, in part due to his constant pursuit of leads in his ongoing independent investigation, and he suffered a mental shutdown that kept him from retaining any form of knowledge from that point forward. When Furyo's mind finally snapped out of the daze, he was informed that the class was over, and advised not to allow himself to doze off next time. Disappointment and frustration filled him with doubt and dismay of his capability to pursue this path of learning, wondering if his kind were right about his mind being illogical and improper compared to the norm of his species, until both Professor Serenity and Alexander gave him a boost of confidence with their words of encouragement.

After the classroom had cleared out Furyo approached the Headmistress, to inquire about his return to where he had come from, and asked how he would return again when the next summons came. She offered him a companion of which could take him to and from the School at his whim; a familiar to accompany him through his future daily pursuits. Having read about the mystical beasts known as "Dragons" he made a hopeful request that perhaps his could be of such species, and was promised the delivery to come the following day. With a hope-filled mind he was transported back to his departure point, on the stoop of the Book Stack, though his return would leave him dazed once more and wondering if the whole trip was a stress induced daydream.

    "Friends with Benefits"

Sitting alone at the Ten Bells pub, a book in hand with the intent to learn as much as could be handled, the creature read up on the practical application of Conjuring Magicks. He had been known to play a bit of music upon an interestingly shaped guitar like instrument once before in his past, but such an instrument was lost to him when he had been cast into exile. To acquire something of the likes, he would have to find another who could make one or, he would have to use other means than the physical creation. Still, the subject matter in which he studied was theoretical to him. Were it not for the subject matter being contained within the volumes at the Book Stack, and his daydream fueling his intrigue, Furyo would most likely still be running around the city looking to piece together discovery points of his ongoing investigation. Personally he found the break from his goose-chase to be rather refreshing, and was glad to take a bit of downtime for himself.

So invested was he in unlocking the secrets to the subject matter being researching presently, he did not immediately hear the entrance of another to the establishment until they spoke to him directly and called out his name. As the being moved into the seat across from him at the table, his attention diverted to look upon them and a look of disbelief contorted his expression, for his guest was none other than the female in his perceived daydream who called herself "Professor Serenity Catronis". After explaining to Furyo that everything he experienced the day before at the Triumverate School of Magic had in fact been real, and not a figment of his overworked mind, she presented him with a box. Within the container was that which she had promised him, a companion for which to travel with him, a small dragon-ling. Professor Serenity did not find herself able to stay long in conversations, and excused herself to attend to other matters, leaving him to become better acquainted with the small beast which had found itself comfortably positioned on his shoulder where it immediately began developing a mental bond with the creature, and introduced itself to him as "Fang". Hours passed in an instant as they communicated between one another, until finally their minds were extensions of the others, and an unbreakable friendship was forged.

Soon the pairs attentions were draw to a group that had gathered outside the establishment, where they overheard a male and female discussing a search for something, and visually observed a winged male who appeared to be in physical distress, drawing them to assess the situation contained. Within short time, much of the gathering had dispersed, allowing Furyo and Fang to focus on the former matter that had captured their interest. Upon inquiry, the male revealed that he was seeking to obtain an image from his youth, but was uncertain how to obtain such a lost personal item as his ventures of searching the lands proved unyielding. Immediately the creature's mind shifted to his new ally, sending the dragon-ling to fetch the Professor for assistance. Upon Serenity's arrival, introductions were made, and they became properly acquainted with the male ("Charles") and female ("Lady Adventurina"), and the Professor began to ascertain the details of the male's desires. When finished, the newly met pair parted company, leaving Serenity and Furyo to carry on with small talk amongst themselves. A short while later, they were met by Doctor Katherine, who besought the assistance of the Professor with strong urgency. Alone once more, the bonded companions returned to the inside of the Pub, to resume the exploration of Conjuration study.

    *Solitude in a Self-Imposed Cell*

Almost a week had passed, with little sight of the creature wandering curiously around the city. Having all but locked himself away in the Overlord's Tower, home to the Triumverte School of Magick, Furyo's mind turned drastically away from his investigative research and fell into focus on his studying of the mystical arts with a side dose of musical training practice on the piano kept therein.

Long enough had he set his mind into these paths, that his facade fell away, revealing his true form as a Shifter. Previously, he was seen as a red and black marked genderless creature, with features easily compared to that of a large rat/fox hybrid; Presently, he had shifted into a human form with bleach white hair that fell around his face and horns presenting from his scalp; Only his face could not be seen from behind the mask he wore, yet his eyes were hauntingly still the same glowing red orbs they had been before, shining brightly through. Where he had come from, and what species he had been around to present him in the image that so many had found themselves identifying him by, was a question only he could answer, if he ever were to. As it was presently, he was at peace; To the eyes of others he was unknown and a stranger, which allowed his solitary focus on his skills to thrive.

    *Letters and Shapes*

With the mayoral election race ongoing, slander flying from one candidate about another, Furyo found himself quite tired of what he was reading in the papers. All he wanted was information useful to him, not the bickering destruction of the political system of the city he now called home. Luckily for him, keeping to the confines of the Triumverte Magick School walls for the most part and remaining constantly on the move when out on the streets in his patrolling, he didn't have to hear much of the whispers that floated seemingly from every corner. In his irritations at the mislead attention given in the war over the position of office, he took to one of the school's classroom desks where both quill and parchment were at his disposal, dictating in writing his thoughts on the matter of distress.

With the letters sent out for delivery to the newspaper mailboxes by the Shifter's dragonet familiar, and it's return bearing yet another issue of the London News, Furyo sat down to muse over the advice column "Doctor Why". So humored was he in the reading, especially from the first letter involving a male asking for advice about how to handle a matter where his wife and his sister were lovers, for which his sister refused to let him watch them cuddle, that the shifter laughed hard enough that his own form altered into that of a feminine nature. Realizing his change in appearance, finding blood red hair falling down his face and a decent pair of breasts in front of him, s/he made their way to the pool of water used for practicing and teaching of elemental magicks. What he found was enough to silence his voice for a few minutes. Having seen much beauty around the city in his travels, despite the darkness that overcast much of the enjoyment to be found from such observations, it was only natural that he found himself frozen as he stared at the stunningly attractive face he saw looking back at him.

Resolved to see what could be made of things as his voice was now altered to one of soft gentle tenderness, Furyo decided that when in this form, he would be called Hikairi; Only those who knew his eyes would be privy of his true name, should they make the connection..

    *~*Awakening the Myst*~*

Some knew of the journey Furyo had traveled, walked with him, saw him through the difficult trials that befell him as he had made a small name for himself in the land. Alas, where had the shifter vanished to? To greet his destiny head on.. As darkness overcame him, the private investigator found himself changed into a beast of destruction and rage, to which in his final moments of control over the darkness within his being, he sought comfort and peace from his life at the hands of a trusted associate.

Some time had passed, and though many had forgotten the strange creature with the many questions ( with few to know of his secretive death ), one had not..

The dark furred beast that had taken over Furyo's form appeared before his old Druid Queen friend, Wyld Frostwitch, though it was nothing more than an apparition of his former image, summoned from beyond the veil with powerful necromantic magic. She was his keeper, and he now was bound to her calling, just as she was bound to her vow to keep his fallen body preserved where it could not be defiled..What might come to be with time, was yet to be seen..
