[17:07] Genesis Barthelmess: I have done a few lectures before hand which are available on the forum, I have quite a few under my belt of rping and developing characters, and I thank you all for coming today.

[17:09] Genesis Barthelmess: Vampirism is commonly thought to be the most romantic concept in gothic horror. a creature neither living nor completely dead. Beautiful and eternal that must commit the intimate act of taking anothers life blood into themselves for sustinance.

[17:09] Genesis Barthelmess: Playing a vampire can be rewarding for yourself, and for those around you. It can be an exploration of the nature of evil, to the journey of what it would mean to truely forever be denied light. With that being said I'll just say what we all know.
[17:11] Genesis Barthelmess: Vampires are over played. Under read, and often times done extremply poorly by people whom are ASSURED at their own greatness. Commonly they will proclaim how hard it is to be a 'believable' vampire. And how tough it is to 'cursed'. So i'm just going to say what you all my abe thinking.
[17:11] Genesis Barthelmess: They should shut up, take the lolipop out of their goddamn mouths and go back and play in the swingsets and let the big boys and girls get back to the business of being awesome.

[17:12] Genesis Barthelmess: By a rough guess of what I've seen. 75% of vampires are pretty much identical. Your individual traumas are nothing more than reshashes of crap that has been seen time and time again with no attempt to make it interesting. Most vampire players seem to believe themselves interesting by the very fact they choose to play as a vampire. One of the MOST COMONLY USED UNDEAD CHARACTER TYPES IN ROLE PLAYING.

[17:17] Nicolie Luv: My thoughts are they are played much like you said and not too many make them indivual and unique

[17:18] Genesis Barthelmess: to start a foundation for building a creative vampire is to difentify in essense what IS a vampire.
[17:18] Snyper Chesnokov: One thing though... that I did to make him as unique as I could... was have him feed... on blood bags... or blood bottles..
[17:18] Genesis Barthelmess: And basically it is a creature that MUST take sustiance from another creature.
[17:18] Nicolie Luv: myself I try to stay dark and quite not tryint to advertise hey I want to bite your neck, but teat it as if its a inner tourment.

[17:19] Genesis Barthelmess: If you have a character that does not require something from someone else. You already are not on the right track. Most commonly this is blood. Adn we'll assume blood for this.
[17:19] Genesis Barthelmess: Types of vampirism is a different lecture, but for now we'll stick to tradition.
[17:20] Nicolie Luv: I have a thirst and I dont deny it, but I try not to take advantage of the innocent.
[17:20] Genesis Barthelmess: So. Law 1: A VAMPIRE IS A CREATURE THAT MUST CONSUME THE LIFE ESSENSE OF ANOTHER CREATURE IN ORDER TO SURVIVE. And the Vampire in and of themselves is not allive.
[17:20] Genesis Barthelmess: That is an easy part.
[17:21] Genesis Barthelmess: Now where the problem comes, where the issues come in, where th elack of development comes. Is in HHOW these concepts are utilized. /how/ you go about doing what you do. So vampires can be created though alternative means, but primarily lets stick with through another vampire.

[17:25] Genesis Barthelmess: However you look like TOTAL DOUCHE if you dicount someone who DOES have these weaknesses. Especially if they play them well. What are are dealing with clearly, is another type of vampire.
[17:25] Genesis Barthelmess: Weaknesses make vampires interesting. It gives them challenges that they can icorporate into their play style.

[17:26] Genesis Barthelmess: Like any other character it is IMPORTANT to attribute flaws to your characters. And vampires are no different.

[17:37] Genesis Barthelmess: So back to our prevous point. The reason why most vampire players suck, is that they don't know how or why it works before they make their vampire
[17:37] Genesis Barthelmess: and then they pull random bullshit out of their buck toothed fanged nethers near constantly and you have to sit and listen to their drivel.

[17:39] Genesis Barthelmess: For some mythos a vampire does NOT have a soul. They lose it when they become a vampire. Others lose their soul and its actually a demonic form of the previous person which is now a vampire. And still other mythos state that vampires have souls because your soul has to be lost to darkness to BECOME a vampire.

[17:40] Vergs Iwish: First of all, saying that we met in Mos Eisley and I know you always were a player with the head over the shoulders, I'd like to know if really we're trying to get a common base for playing a vampire in Legacies
[17:42] Genesis Barthelmess: no. My goal here today is not for us to get a commmon player base for vampires. Because Legacies from what i know /has/ no set origin for vampire mythos in order to allow freedom of the players. If ever there /was/ one, or if there /is/ one i'd do a lecture on how to make a vampire intersting according to those standards.

[17:46] Genesis Barthelmess: A vampire that does not fear light fundementally strays away from the core thread that ties the CONCEPT of vampirism together into what it is. Some of you may discount this.
