[05:39 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: The fn thin abouttransfrmation is that it is something youcan AD to your character. Unlike any of your traits it is not a something that is locked in at your creation, and you mus work o get id of t, or add to it. And it can come in many forms.

[05:45 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: The Jekyl and Hyde Transformation.
[05:46 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: The idea behind this kind of transformation is a splitting of a person into two core components
[05:47 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Where one side personifies one set of virtues, and the other side embodies the other. There are a few ways to do this. Classically one undergoes a physical change.
[05:47 PM] Inque: the first recorded of it's kind though not the most dramatic
[05:47 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Didyou know in the story Hyde was actually very short?
[05:47 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: And not actually ugly but repulsive to be near.

[05:48 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: The point to remember in a transformation such as this is that you do not have to stick with the idea of good and evil.
[05:48 PM] Inque: Dr. Bruce David Banner point in case?
[05:48 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: What you are doing is separating yourselfinto two polar virtues. It could easily be a light and dark transformation, or a manic depressive split.
[05:49 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Ah we'll do him nxt, heis actally not a Jekyl and Hyde transformation in the strictest sense.
[05:49 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Though his story is based on the concept.
[05:49 PM] Muse: now, when speaking of this transformation, you are speaking almost symbolically, or perhaps with some physical change, as with say demonic possession? Or are you speaking more of the actual tale of a biological or physical component or catalyst which can 'set off' a change in the physical sense? Sorry, i just wanna clarify...
[05:49 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: We'll be discussing a few of them, of differeing types.
[05:50 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: So some biology, and some more mental innature.

[05:50 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: And important factor to remember when you do a polar change such as the Jekyl and Hyde, is that both sides are distinct entities. they should look, and act quite different from each other.
[05:51 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Oh i don't mind at all.
[05:51 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: There are some key points to remember in this type of change however. You have to make some decisions. One of the being, do the two sides know of each other?
[05:51 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: If both sides are AWARE of their shared anture they may find ways to communicate. such as leaving each other notes.
[05:51 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: or perhaps breaking each others shit when they are displeased.
[05:52 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: If they do not, both sides might be confused a great deal of the time that they keep waking up in odd places.
[05:52 PM] Muse: almost like MPD
[05:52 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: the Second question you have to ask yourself is "Do they share a comon memory?"
[05:52 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Very much so.
[05:53 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Now this common memory is a powerful focus. if both sides remember what the other side is doing, it opens up a chance for each side to inteperate the others actions in their own light
[05:53 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Perhaps one side is trying actively to work agianst the other, but has his own problesm becasue the other side will REMEMBER everything the other side does.
[05:53 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: the key thing to remember is that in a Jekyl and Hyde transformation there is actually no longer a "core" person.
[05:54 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: There is not a "default" there are now two distinct entitites inside of the single body. And they must time share the meat sack.
[05:54 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Common ways to identify the two is a physical change, or perhaps a different way that they speak. And of course entirely different behavior.
[05:55 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: In the end it should be noted that Jekyl did lose the fight. His formula eventually caused him to change into hyde most unexpectedly.
[05:55 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Until there was...no Jekyl at all anymore.
[05:55 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Now since you are all curious about it lets discuss the hulk. Character inteperetation aside the Hulk is an example ofa "Primal Change."
[05:56 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: And Primal Change is one that occurs on a trigger factor.
[05:56 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Can anyone give me some examples of this?
[05:56 PM] Inque: one side more aware of the other's existance

[05:56 PM] Muse: lycanthropy in some cases
[05:56 PM] Muse: when the catalystic emotion of extream loss or fear takes over
[05:57 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: I did a whole class on Lycanthropy, but yes sometimes the change is trigged in a way similar to ap rimal change.

[05:57 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Gold star liz.

[05:57 PM] Inque: a shared memory both cared deeply in own ways for another being
[05:57 PM] MRS. LOKSANU SIXPENCE: ONSE SIDE OF THE PERSON S MORE APT TO DISTURBANCE CAUSEING A "SNAPPED" MENTALITY

[05:57 PM] Muse: but its always almost an extreame emotional catalyst
[05:57 PM] Muse: one that causes a physiological hiccup
[05:57 PM] Muse: and then boom, youre green and naked
[05:57 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: That is exactly it. Primal Changes are triggered by most likely a single trigger.
[05:58 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: that sounds like a ufn sunday actually...
[05:58 PM] Inque: but as hulk some sense of morals and ethic still existed

[05:58 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: You are correct Inque.
[05:58 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: and that trigger is usually an emotion, or a thought that overtakes the victim and forces on them a transformation
[05:58 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: PRimal changes are almost ALWAYS physical and mental in nature.
[05:59 PM] Muse: true, but the main body was not really aware or did not have confidence in the hulks ability to define right and wrong, to see friends
[05:59 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Depends on the hulk actually.
[05:59 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: He's had many incarnations over the years.
[05:59 PM] Muse: very true xD
[05:59 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: but that aside.
[05:59 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: the thing to remember in primal transformations is that they are almost ALWAYS unconrolable. Except in the instance where the victim purposefully exposes themselves to the trigger.
[06:00 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Perhaps it is hunger....or it is anger...
[06:00 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: What is fun about Primal Changes is that while a Jekyl and Hyde change is often triggered manuallly and then developes into an involentary trigger (it can cross into primal change territory)
[06:00 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: the thing about primal changes is that they have often a definate time limit.
[06:01 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Once the Primal Form finishes or confronts what caused it to change, they revert back to the "core" body
[06:01 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: In the case of anger, once the taget is able to calm down. Or in the case of a hunger or lust change, once the target can get a snack, or get some booty. Or perhaps get a snack and some booty.

[06:01 PM] Kzru Bruhl: your talking about behavior trifers like the ones some serial killers have only macling t a phisical as well as a mental switch over or controll?

[06:02 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Well in the case of Primal changes

[06:02 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: thre should be a mental change as well.
[06:02 PM] Muse: after the class there will be cake... and blowjobs..
[06:02 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: but there is a catch

[06:02 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: It could actually be more intellgent than the previous core form.
[06:03 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: But what IS a constant is that a good primal form is always obsessed

[06:03 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Unlike in a Jekyl and Hyde change (pure form.) where both sides strive for existence, the Primal Form exists to serve a purpose, to engage in a goal.

[06:03 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Yes, but what if your change is triggered by something elese. Like mental challenges?
[06:04 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Or puzzles. Or Riddles.
[06:04 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Or hunger.

[06:04 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: The suggestion here is to take your character, and look at them through a colored glass, the color of the glass of course being their trigger. A primal form should be OBSESSED with acheiving what made them change.
[06:05 PM] Muse: then i suppose... for hungers sake youwould become a charming individual with questionable morals, but still intelligently fixe on the goal?
[06:05 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: It is quite possible.
[06:05 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Or a slavering beast that east everything in sight.

[06:05 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: There is always leeway in these things.

[06:05 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: if you decide to go difficult and give yourself a mental trigger, like mental stress

[06:06 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP OF GIVING YOURSELF MANY TRIGGERS

[06:07 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Primal changes don't always need to be outwardly phscical. They could be primarily mental.
[06:07 PM] Muse: youre getting more into say, growling or glaring when someone mentions a touchy subject or something
[06:07 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: But they shoudl always be markedby something. a shift in behavior, or a change visually. Something to let youknow tat somthing as changed.

[06:07 PM] Muse: a more subtle transformation
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Well you all seem to have that one so lets cover a mental one.

[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: This one is like the jekyl and hyde.
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: But it is more about an internal struggle
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: but not about a struggle between polar opposites
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: I'm speaking of course of the "Mirror Syndrome."
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: the Mirror Syndom is a lot like having an evil twin.
[06:08 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: Someon or something is inside of you.
[06:09 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: And it wants to get out.

[06:09 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: And it somtimes DOES get out. And when it gets out...it gets its way. the Mirror Syndome is an isidious sort of change that often doesn't have a very obvious physical trigger. It is more or less a completely different thing that takes over the body.

[06:17 PM] Genesis Barthelmess: really depends on how you want to make it. i'd say a simple odd even is often enough

[06:27 PM] Muse: i had trouble seperating a psychological and physical trigger, mainly because a real world even can cause the trauma or conflict internally needed... Would you say that in the case of say a person seeing someone harm another and then their rage over the incident, say from a past experience they or their other has had, and using it to set it off, is physical or pschological?
