  1. Nicolie Luv | January 22, 2011 - 03:14 AM

[05:55 PM] Leigh Huet: the Larps has gone through a lot of changes since its first inception when Tri sent out the first one
[05:57 PM] Leigh Huet: actually Legacies and this story line for it all came from the same man's head TriJin Bade, he wanted to offer the best RP possible where one can fully immerse themselves into the Rp
[05:58 PM] Leigh Huet: the meter is a helpful tool that allows you to do just that as it is not just a combat meter but an RP tool
[05:59 PM] Leigh Huet: Tri is a very special man that I have known for over three years. He taught me what RP is and how to RP
[06:00 PM] Leigh Huet: I have watched the LaRPS grow to the best RP tool I have ever seen in that it is truly like a brain in that it learns
[06:00 PM] Angel Walters: i miss most the rpers from when i frist started but time marches on and i have made some awsome new friends..
[06:01 PM] Leigh Huet: the more your character talks with others by using the /2 and the /2m it is recorded through the meter. the language of other races. and that fact that if you hear it enough your character can learn to understand it
[06:02 PM] Usagi smirks.... "'Cept the Lycan tounge. . . THAT one is as near to a secret code as ANY."
[06:02 PM] Leigh Huet: This is a great community of RPers and there is one thing that is the most unique that you rarely will find any where else..would anyone like to tell me what that is?
[06:02 PM] Catt Catiria: Full immersion not limits
    [06:02 PM] Catt Catiria: no
[06:02 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: no ooc drama?
[06:02 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: yea thats the best bit
[06:02 PM] Angel Walters: true full emertion rp?
[06:02 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: the immersion i mean
[06:02 PM] Leigh Huet: I must ask that you please do not use the chat for your character here for we are OOC and it helps with the seperation.
[06:02 PM] Leigh Huet: and yes there is true immersion here. what does that really mean?
[06:03 PM] Catt Catiria: You are your character
[06:03 PM] Angel Walters: alway in char
[06:03 PM] Catt Catiria: You wake up you sleep you eat
[06:03 PM] Catt Catiria: No OOC chat in local
[06:03 PM] Catt Catiria: except at the hub
[06:04 PM] Leigh Huet: ok so what if I am new here and want to learn about a particular place..can I just ask in OOC?
    [06:04 PM] Catt Catiria: Nope
[06:04 PM] Catt Catiria: Find out IC'ily
[06:05 PM] Angel Walters: nope you fameois line.."find out icly hun.."
[06:05 PM] Leigh Huet: good so what does it mean to find out ICly?
[06:05 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: In Character.... as around as you RP
    [06:06 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: ask**
[06:06 PM] Angel Walters: ask in char and find out like with what i am doing trying to find out who all plains to run the the mayor race in just under a fortnight
[06:06 PM] Nicolie Luv: Full Immersion Role Play
FIRP was popularized in the game World of Warcraft. It is where a player fully immerses their character into the story of the game. Also known as "Heavy RP". Often players will create a story for thier characters and stick strictly to the character concept. FIRP users will also roleplay through most (if not all) avenues of the game.
[06:07 PM] Rena Mistwallow: I have to say EverQuest started FIRP really but WOW just expanded the audience a bit
[06:07 PM] Leigh Huet: ok so we know that it is full immersive RP, we now that we have to find out ICly anything our character needs to know. so...tell me something...how many of you have learned about the back story and what Legacies is all about?
[06:08 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom puts hand up
[06:08 PM] Usagi Vyper: i know some of it
    [06:08 PM] Catt Catiria: nods
[06:08 PM] Nicolie Luv: you know the full back story ocean?
[06:08 PM] Rena Mistwallow: some of it
[06:08 PM] Catt Catiria: just a little
[06:09 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: pretty much - i have a lot of the 'nc' for that quest and I have heard thinks IC
    [06:09 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: things**
[06:09 PM] Nicolie Luv: then I would stick with the majority and say some
[06:09 PM] Nicolie Luv: because trust me, there is more than we will ever know.
[06:10 PM] Nicolie Luv: I'm still reading and learning, but that is one of the best things about the website the stories, and trying to figure out the story between the lines
[06:10 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom giggles "there always is"
[06:11 PM] Nicolie Luv: of course the real story or full story isnt going to be just laid out for you, but there is enough to make you ask questions.
[06:11 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: "some " mumbles now that her hands are free.
[06:11 PM] Leigh Huet: the trick is asking the right people and the right questions. how many of you have ever RP'd with wormtongue?
[06:12 PM] Usagi Vyper: I have
[06:12 PM] Rena Mistwallow: Several times played music for him often
[06:12 PM] Angel Walters: reaise hand " on a differnt char"
    [06:12 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: me
    [06:12 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: I haven't
[06:12 PM] Leigh Huet: did you pay him coin? and listen to what he has to say?
[06:13 PM] Usagi Vyper: he did'nt ask for any
[06:13 PM] Angel Walters: what you can pay him...can you pickpockt him?
[06:13 PM] Leigh Huet: so you didn't know you could buy him a drink?
[06:13 PM] Nicolie Luv: I wouldn't suggest it, I mean his name is Wormtounge
[06:13 PM] Leigh Huet: and he will tell you things?
[06:14 PM] Rena Mistwallow: at the time I didn't have coin
[06:14 PM] Angel Walters: will have to try talking him in to voting for me lol
[06:14 PM] Leigh Huet: the idea here that I am trying to get across is there is a RP reason for everything, that you find here in Legacies
[06:14 PM] Nicolie Luv: the buildings ln legacies, are not here just to make the place pretty, the npcs are not here just to look at, they are here for a reason. how many of you have seen the Davinchi Code, or Angels and demons?
[06:15 PM] Usagi Vyper: no, and no
[06:15 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: read them
[06:15 PM] Nicolie Luv: swirls his head, "Dizzy love?"
[06:15 PM] Leigh Huet: laughs softly as they did it again..."yes stop that."
    [06:15 PM] Angel Walters: both
[06:15 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: seen the first only
[06:16 PM] Leigh Huet: ok so there is more here than the wonderful full immersion, there is also the story of Legacies itself
[06:16 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: apologies to Ron Howard & Tom Hanks, but the movies didn't do the books justice
    [06:16 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: *couldn't
[06:16 PM] Nicolie Luv: okay so tell me, this did it make you think twice about the scuptilues, and paintings?
[06:16 PM] Leigh Huet: they never can get all the details a book can
    [06:16 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: definitely
[06:17 PM] Nicolie Luv: I wont say let the angels guide your path here but there are so many places to explore here
[06:17 PM] Nicolie Luv: so many clues to uncover
[06:18 PM] Nicolie Luv: but what is Legacies based on?
[06:18 PM] Catt Catiria: I have found some things in places that no one would travel by themselves
[06:18 PM] Catt Catiria: Jack the ripper
[06:18 PM] Leigh Huet: so basically you have a game within a game
[06:18 PM] Angel Walters: i stay far away from the f**king statues luv...i dont need to be streched out..and that bring me to another thought if ther are no kid on legos why are the hydra babys still?
[06:18 PM] Rena Mistwallow: you need the rp answer to that one Angel
[06:18 PM] Angel Walters: sorry i dont mean to pick knets"
[06:18 PM] Leigh Huet: those are different
[06:19 PM] Catt Catiria: what happens if you need the baby but you deleted it?
[06:19 PM] Leigh Huet: why do you think I say there is a game within a game?
[06:19 PM] Nicolie Luv: actually it is the storeis from the time of the jack the ripper, because why?
[06:19 PM] Catt Catiria: Cause you have your rp but yet you also have legacies
[06:19 PM] Nicolie Luv: puts his hands to his lips
[06:20 PM] Nicolie Luv: something to find out ICLY right
[06:20 PM] Rena Mistwallow: actaully I never did find the hydra in my previous time here
[06:20 PM] Leigh Huet: your absolutely right Catt because you have your own story and then you have the story arch of Legacies all of which is up to you to find out about
[06:21 PM] Catt Catiria: Things you would never imagine doing in RL
[06:21 PM] Leigh Huet: now within this game we have tools this one is your LaRPS
[06:21 PM] Nicolie Luv: so how does the dies work in al of this
[06:21 PM] Leigh Huet: it assist you in your game
[06:21 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: ok, yes, but not fun IC
[06:21 PM] Rena Mistwallow: not tooearly to talk about dice? :)
[06:21 PM] Catt Catiria: The dice help to even the playing field
[06:21 PM] Catt Catiria: they learn as you learn
[06:21 PM] Leigh Huet: how can the LaRPS assit you in your game?
[06:22 PM] Catt Catiria: keeps it turn for turn
[06:22 PM] Catt Catiria: shows how much damage
[06:22 PM] Nicolie Luv: we are getting there but first it is important to have some understanding of your surroundings and why legacies exsist, and how clues can help you, and well Dice fall right into helping you discover
[06:22 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: how do we get the hover parts to list what people would notice right away?
[06:23 PM] Catt Catiria: shows your abilities, your helath everything you need to rp successfully
[06:23 PM] Nicolie Luv: right like the scene in angels and demons when Tom hanks had to use the book shelf to break the window to get out of the library
[06:23 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: ooh, that should be later, I guess
[06:23 PM] Nicolie Luv: when they got locked in an no oxygen
[06:23 PM] Angel Walters: there the pvt, pve, pva then the dice and the other under the other tab that i am to lays to type out
[06:23 PM] Nicolie Luv: well that would work here, you could get trapped someplace and well how would you get out
    [06:23 PM] Catt Catiria: tp......hehe
    [06:23 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: magic?
[06:24 PM] Leigh Huet: possible if your charcter can do magic
[06:24 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: depends on your character really
[06:24 PM] Leigh Huet: not everyone has a magical character
[06:24 PM] Nicolie Luv: but even then you have to roll to see how much it helped, if it cracked the glass or if it bounced off
[06:24 PM] Catt Catiria: but there are magical characters around them that can help
[06:24 PM] Nicolie Luv: the bullets he used only made holes in the glass right?
[06:25 PM] Catt Catiria: The more people you get to know IC the more help you can get
[06:25 PM] Nicolie Luv: and the smarter you become,
[06:25 PM] Catt Catiria: Yes, yes
[06:25 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: but if you yell for help, bad things could hear
[06:25 PM] Catt Catiria: Yeap, that's a chance you take playing here
[06:25 PM] Oceantide Leifstrom: if you dont - you might die anyways
[06:26 PM] Nicolie Luv: true, true but again there comes the dice roll and that is when you might want to call for an ST
[06:26 PM] Catt Catiria: Luckily, there's no permadeath unless agreed to by st's
[06:26 PM] Leigh Huet: this is very true Branwyn you may not get the help you were hoping for
[06:26 PM] Catt Catiria: and you
[06:26 PM] Leigh Huet: actualy the permadeath can only be agreed upon by you
[06:26 PM] Leigh Huet: it is your character
[06:26 PM] Catt Catiria: I thought you had to have it approved
    [06:26 PM] Leigh Huet: nope
[06:26 PM] Leigh Huet: it is your RP
    [06:27 PM] Catt Catiria: cool
[06:27 PM] Nicolie Luv: When to call an ST:
Ask your self 5 simple questions does your RP....
    1. affect Health?
    2. affect Strength?
    3. affect Life?
    4. affect Mental state?
    5. affects any visable object or build?

If you answer YES to any of the above, then call for a Storyteller in "Isle of Legacies OOC" IM group.

The meter rocks your RP, but there are times when you need some narrative to enhance the RP. Private consensual RP, that have been discussed beforehand, doesn't require ST.
[06:27 PM] Leigh Huet: only YOU can say YES to having your character pemadeath
    [06:27 PM] Catt Catiria: aha
[06:27 PM] Nicolie Luv: On that note....calling for an ST here is something important to think of
[06:28 PM] Catt Catiria: Make sure you know what you want to do and have it mapped out before calling one. Unless it's a fight/battle thing
[06:28 PM] Nicolie Luv: we help things stay in order, so each person remembers when they posted or has a question of which ability they should use etc
    [06:28 PM] Nicolie Luv: now...
[06:28 PM] Catt Catiria: that just sort of happened
[06:29 PM] Nicolie Luv: if you use something that affects the environment, We will be the ones reacting for the environment occordingly
[06:29 PM] Nicolie Luv: because as STS we become part of the envrionment,
[06:29 PM] Nicolie Luv: that is not God modding or meta gameing or powergaming
[06:29 PM] Nicolie Luv: we react according to the dice the failure and success you roll
[06:30 PM] Nicolie Luv: the reason we do the environment is because you would not want someone to say how you react right?
[06:30 PM] Nicolie Luv: so why should the play say how the envrionment is affected, hence the STs become part of the environment and we can actually role ourselves if we want to see the amount of damage.
[06:31 PM] Leigh Huet: here is an example
[06:31 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: for objects you can target, are there reactions to certain words or actions, or do we need an st?
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: NPC's are a bit different Branwyn, if you are just fighting them
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: but let me give you an example
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: two were fighting in the street between 10 Bells and the hospital
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: i was STing the fight
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: they were ignoring the carriage
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: so I did an environment about how he swerved and cussed and said next time he would just follow his route
[06:32 PM] Leigh Huet: the next time he came I did an environment roll
[06:33 PM] Leigh Huet: it succeeded then had them do a d4 to find out the damage they got from being run over by the carrige
[06:34 PM] Leigh Huet: another example one did the pushall so i rolled for the windows and the damage they recieved
[06:35 PM] Leigh Huet: I do want to point out one major thing, when our meters are like this we are players what our characters say is just that our characters we are players just like you
[06:36 PM] Leigh Huet: the only difference is we also help to be sure the rules of the sim are followed to keep our wonderful environment and to facilite your RP when needed
[06:36 PM] Leigh Huet: like for dice rolls, in a fight
[06:36 PM] Nicolie Luv: If you are successful in your roll and you don't get the storytell you expect, it could be because you haven't used a high enough ability level.
[06:36 PM] Leigh Huet: on the dice no matter which one you use you will see one of five outcomes
[06:37 PM] Leigh Huet: critical failure, failure, baresuccess, success, stellar success
[06:37 PM] Leigh Huet: we only help with the stellar's and the criticals
[06:37 PM] Leigh Huet: the rest is up to you to honor the dice rolls and the attempts of your fellow players
[06:38 PM] Leigh Huet: be plausable in your reactions, don't be afraid to accept that damage for in the end can give you even more RP
    [06:39 PM] Nicolie Luv: Think of the dice rolls this way;
PvT = is for physical actions not already on the hud,
PvA = is for magic/supernatural abilities not already on the hud,
PvE = Environmental and netural physical actions like restraining when there is no intent to harm or assist.
Numbered Dice = Modifiers. To roll for duration, etc.

You must always abide by the challenge rule: Before you attack make sure you meet the challenge rule: 2short posts or 1pararp post. Give the person time to respond (approx 10 mins). You must be acknowledged by the person or people in the group before you proceed with the attack.
[06:40 PM] Nicolie Luv: • Dicerolls and using the internal abilities of the LaRPS meter and HUD should be used to administer damage and effects upon NPCs and players. Each meter action should be roleplayed and be plausible for your character. Combat and conflicts should be round and turn based. ie: Deliver your RP action then have some respect and wait for the targetted player to respond.
Storytellers are available for scenes who can decorate the results of the dicerolls for your group. STs will not decree or command the scene in any way. It’s your RP, your realm.
[06:41 PM] Leigh Huet: any questions?
    [06:41 PM] Usagi Vyper: yes.
[06:41 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: *raises her hand*
    [06:41 PM] Leigh Huet: usagi
[06:42 PM] Usagi Vyper: are the dice rolls entirely random, or does some factor in the character rolling effect the outcome?
[06:42 PM] Nicolie Luv: So a good choice to make would be an Expert ability. Keep in mind that this isn't written in stone, and if you choose a leveled ability below what would be reasonable that you may end up failing your intended action even if you succeed on the roll.
Look at the following three areas and consider the effects you want for your RP to have. Then, taking these guidelines in account, you can estimate what you think the difficulty would be.
[06:42 PM] Leigh Huet: your stats and the one your affecting does matter
[06:42 PM] Leigh Huet: for their is a resist factor
[06:43 PM] Leigh Huet: you have a goal number that you must make based on the algorhythm for the type of roll you chose and then the one you targeted has a resist factor again based on the type of roll and their statistics
[06:43 PM] Leigh Huet: does that help Usagi?
    [06:43 PM] Usagi Vyper: somewhat
[06:44 PM] Nicolie Luv: General IC Experience Needed for an Ability:
    • Novice: Anyone can do it.
    • Skilled: Something that requires practice.
    • Expert: Something whose livelihood gives such experience.
    • Legendary: Something who is recognized and distinguished in such a field.
[06:44 PM] Leigh Huet: I cannot give you the algorhythm for it is only in one persons head and that is tri's
[06:44 PM] Leigh Huet: he is not giving it out
[06:44 PM] Usagi Vyper: not asking for that
[06:44 PM] Nicolie Luv: Attacks: Target them.
    • Novice = A strike.
    • Skilled = A wound.
    • Expert = A knockdown.
    • Legendary = A knockout.

    Zone of Effect:
    • Novice = Small object/area.
    • Skilled = Human-sized object/area.
    • Expert = Room-sized area.
    • Legendary = Building-sized area.
    [06:45 PM] Nicolie Luv: Range:
    • Novice = Touch.
    • Skilled = Arm's length.
    • Expert = Line of sight.
    • Legendary = Anywhere in same sim.

    Force:
    • Novice = A touch.
    • Skilled = A punch. A standard dead-lift.
    • Expert = Hit by a car. ~1 ton of force.
    • Legendary = Hit by a bus. ~11-15 tons+.
[06:45 PM] Leigh Huet: but just like RL if one does a lot of fighting they know how to dodge this would show in their stats
    [06:45 PM] Leigh Huet: Branwyn
[06:46 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: Thank you, Leigh. By "objects you can target" I didn't mean NPCs, exactly, but things, like the body? are there reactions built in to certain words or actions we do in rp, or do we need an st?
[06:46 PM] Leigh Huet: those would need an ST for the discovery information
[06:46 PM] Leigh Huet: based on the outcome of your roll will base how much information you get
[06:47 PM] Leigh Huet: the more detailed you are in what you are looking for the easier it is for us to answer you
[06:47 PM] Nicolie Luv: usually there will be a what we call stateball letting you know to call for an ST
[06:47 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: ah, I knew we were missing something. We'll have to try again.
[06:48 PM] Leigh Huet: we can only tell you what you are asking, the hard part is if the person did not give that info to begin with
[06:48 PM] Nicolie Luv: any more questions before we let you wonderful ummm beings get back to the RP floor?
[06:49 PM] Usagi Vyper: i have one qiestion left.
    [06:49 PM] Leigh Huet: Usagi
[06:50 PM] Usagi Vyper: Sense i obviously can't run around just 'praticing' on players, does praticing certin abilities on the NPC count? Dies the hud recognoze that??
[06:50 PM] Leigh Huet: against NPC's no there is no gain if you dice roll against them like there is against another player
[06:50 PM] Leigh Huet: you can RP sparing
[06:51 PM] Leigh Huet: trying to increase your level of training say with hand to hand or with a dagger and RP it accordinly
[06:51 PM] Nicolie Luv: I have one more closing statmentment I would like to make while giving out XPS, and because you were all so active in class I think a bonus is in order.
[06:51 PM] Leigh Huet: but if it is something you would do in your normal RP then use it...just remember to always have one targeted
[06:52 PM] Nicolie Luv: and it's more of a FYI disclaimer you all have heard it before but never hurts to remind
    [06:52 PM] Nicolie Luv: Rules
    1. NO OOC DRAMA. No exceptions. Be fair and show 100% respect for all residents within this realm.
    2. Do not violate SL ToS (Terms of Service and Community Standards)
▫ No child-play In-Character. This includes player character avatars, pregnancies, babies, children, young messenger boys or street urchins, etc.
▫ No persons under the age of 18.
▫ Respect all players OOCly, whether or not you like ICly.
    3. You must abide by the era presented both in general technology and clothing appearances. The year is 1891, Victorian England.
▫ All “time travelling” must be in reverse. Once you enter Legacies to conduct your RPs, you are unable to travel forward in time. (hence, no Automatic weapons for example)
    4. No OOC of any sort in public local chat.
▫ OOC should be done in IMs.
▫ No use of “(( ))”, “LOL”, “BRB”, party gestures (gestures in general, usually).
[06:53 PM] Nicolie Luv: ▫ The only OOC allowed is (OOB) meaning Out of Body. (OOB) = approx. ten minute break
    5. All home security must be defeatable via LaRPS meter actions.
    6. Godmodding & Metagaming will not be tolerated. All RP must be written as attempts.
[06:53 PM] Rena Mistwallow: hmmm Leigh do you know when the next LaRPS class will be? I really need help figuring out the new system LOL
[06:53 PM] Leigh Huet: tomorrow at 11
[06:54 PM] Rena Mistwallow: am or pm?
[06:54 PM] Leigh Huet: am on that one
[06:54 PM] Nicolie Luv: in the mean time Rena
[06:54 PM] Nicolie Luv: ► Website for LaRPS: http://larps.net
[06:54 PM] Branwyn Moonbeam: Thank you both. I love the way you do the classes together, it adds something special to the experience.
[06:54 PM] Leigh Huet: your welcome and our pleasure
[06:54 PM] Nicolie Luv: if you want to get a start on reading it
[06:54 PM] Leigh Huet: thank you Branwyn
[06:55 PM] Nicolie Luv: aww thank you Branwyn, it helps to share a mind
[06:55 PM] Leigh Huet: just go to the support Rena but I don't think it has changed that much
