Race Class 101: Vampires OH MY!

[17:02:58] You: Well, let's get started shall we? Welcome to Legacies Race 101: Class Vampire. This class is to learn about Legacies Vampires. no, not John Carpenters, not Twilight, not any other kind of vampires, but Legacies Vampires. First off I want to state that this is only an informational class, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that this is your roleplay. It is not mine, or anyone elses. How you roleplay your character is up to you. However, please make sure that your character fits the Legacies theme. We will be discussing the popular Vampire themes.
[17:05:03] You: If you want to go off the board and on your own, just make sure it fits with other people who roleplay vampires. Make sure your character fits with others of the same race- good tricks are making them from a different clan, or country. So that their is plausibility for the variation. We do not want people to feel like we are telling them how to play their characters. But we do have the goal of making information readily available to assist you-for that, each week a different race will be taught in the Race 101 classes.
[17:06:32] You: We do ask that no mythical, fictional or real life characters with a recorded history and no named characters from the Legacies Backstory. No gods please. No all powerful characters. Each and every vampire must be defeatable.

[17:08:06] You: One of the very popular themes is Vampire the Masquerade. If you look at the box in front of you, it has a Link's notecard to some more great information that is a bit more in depth on the different sects of Vampires. Please feel free to take one.

[17:09:48] You: Now, nearly every vampire in Legacies, not all, but most of them, roleplays as a member of a sect, or group. One of the standard rules of being a vampire? You have to be made into one. Of course. Usually by being turned. The Two big sects are the Camrilla, and the Sabbat. Can anyone name a Camarila clan?

[17:14:18] You: Malkavians are perhaps the most challenging clan of vampire to play. Every last drop of Malkavian blood is certifabley insane. They are the nutcases and loonies of the vampire world.

[17:16:37] You: Traditionally, the entire clan of Malkavian's was cursed by Caine. Cursed into insanity, as it was.
[17:16:57] Leigh Luv: malks are crazy because of the hive mind...once turned you would hear every single malk that ever existed past and present....there are several types of malks to...they also enjoy practical jokes...granted most of those tend to be deadly
[17:17:21] You: Indeed. Malk's tend to look at being insane as a strength. Not a weakness.
[17:17:56] You: One of the ones I didn't hear mentioned was Brujah.
[17:17:58] Fox Somerset: Is this a vampire RP then?

[17:18:54] You: Brujah are the "strength" of the Carmilla. They tend to be considered Punks, and are often called the Rabble. Your fine Fox. People are always welcome!
[17:20:18] You: And the last group of the Camarilla is the Nosferatu. The embrace warps each of these into a hideously deformed creature. They are some of the best spies in the undead world though. Anyone care to venture a guess on why Nosferatu are so hideous?

[17:23:40] You: Anyone? Each vampire clan was started by an Antediluvian, the Nosferatu Antediluvian was Absimiliard, a hunter of great skill and beauty. He was tracked down by a vampire and embraced. It left him with a tiny facial scar that inflamed his vanity--his wounded pride, coupled with his ego, led him to resent, then hate, then kill his sire..when Caine returned and placed judgement on the Nosferatu..he cursed them with hideousness, a curse passed to each Nosferatu.
[17:24:31] Nic Luv: there are soo many that branch off, think of it as doing a family history research there are branches and black sheep all over the place
[17:24:54] You: These are the bastion's of the Camarilla, to most vampires. Indeed. Black sheep all over the world. Now. can anyone name two of the Sabbat clans?

[17:25:47] You: Excellent, anyone else have the other?
[17:26:29] You: The leaders of the Sabbat are generally the Lasombra. Leaders, Keepers, Shadows, Darwinists, the extreme predator. Elegant. They do not blieve in hiding what and who they are.

[17:27:39] You: Tzimisce are their partners in the Sabbat, the two major clans that form it. The Tzimisce are Haughty, known perfectionist in everything, fanatics, and known as sorcerers.
[17:29:25] You: Now, their are many independent clans. Assamite, Followers of Set, Gangrel, Ravnos. There are also smaller clans of many other names. But these are the bigger clans.
[17:30:10] You: The Assamite are the perfect assassins. They are very proud of this, and are perhaps some of the most deadly among the kindred.
[17:30:18] You: Can anyone tell me anything about the Gangrel?

[17:32:27] You: The Gangrel are known as the vagabonds, drifters, beasts. Outlanders. "Feral" is the word that nicest is used to describe them. But the most common is "Damn furry loners." Anyone care to make a guess why?

[17:34:10] Nic Luv: I have a quote about Gangrels that describes them pretty well
[17:34:15] Nic Luv: They call us the Savages, I say they are the savages for refusing to understand their Beast and sate it. I've seen what happens when you ignore the Beast, and it's never pretty.
[17:34:16] You: Go for it Nic!
[17:34:58] Nic Luv: Primal, hardy and savage. The Gangrel clan is more closely connected to their Beast than other Clans. Members of this clan use their connection with the beast to become masters of the shapeshifting Discipline of Protean, which gives rise to the rural old wives' legends of bestial vampires turning into bats, wolves and mist. The Gangrel usually sire those with physical prowess or a closeness to the beasts of the world.
Nickname: Savages
Disciplines: Gangrel are masters of Protean,animalism, and resilience.
Weakness: As befits their sobriquet, the Gangrel are more closely tied to their Beasts than are other Kindred. The more they feel the call of the Beast, the more bestial they become, and the more their minds become those of less principled animals.

[17:36:36] You: Excellent description Nic. *grin* Many Gangrel go completely wild, scorning human contact and vampire contact for decades at a time. To reason they are shunned by most of the other clans is their penchant for delving too deeply into their animalist and predatory natures.

[17:37:55] You: The Followers of Set, one of the most interesting clans of vampires. There is a saying that follows this group. They are almost universally despises by most of the vampire clans. The following "Warm eyes, cold heart."
[17:38:30] You: is a popular saying for this clan. Not much is known about them, they are known to be drug dealers, part of the underground. But always very...cold in their mannerisms.
[17:39:19] You: Then their is the Giovanni. The Giovanni are distasteful. Necromancers and Necrophiliacs..(They keep it in the family, if you know what I mean)
[17:39:51] You: They are more likely to uh..play with your dead corpse than to embrace you.
[17:39:57] You: -grins-
[17:40:25] Demetri Nightshade: will they play with wraiths like that too?
[17:40:50] You: That's entirely up to an individual character Demetri.

[17:41:26] You: Ravnos, the gypsies, criminals, deceivers. tricksters. At some point in their history, a great deal of this clan turned on each other..and tried to eat each other. Mmm Tasty.
[17:42:33] You: There are two clans that are known to be mostly extinct. Cappadocian, and Salubri. I won't go into those in too much detail, because well..they are known as extinct. If you want information on those, you can look it up on the notecard in the box in front of me.
[17:42:58] You: Does anyone know what the word Antitribu means to the Vampires?
[17:43:55] Wren Noir: anti-tribe?

[17:44:59] You: Very close guess Wren! The Antitribu are those that split off from their main clan. You can play any clan, and leave it. Doing this, makes you Antitribu. For instance, a Lasombra might turn Antitribu, and join the Camarilla.
[17:45:32] You: It's basically saying. "I don't believe what my clan does, I'm going to go over here now."

[17:45:57] Leigh Luv: they are also twisted version from the origional blood line
[17:46:20] You: Now, I've mentioned Camarilla and Sabbat a bit, anyone care to make a guess what those two groups actually mean?
[17:48:23] You: the Camarilla believes that every vampire should try to fit in to some extent, to hide from the rest of humanity so as to feed easier. They created a web of lies and misinformation, which is called the Maquerade. It's purpose was to make humans, and other races, not believe that vampires exist. So that they can feed easier. Interesting hmm?

[17:49:10] Nic Luv: Also do not be suprised if you hear someone called a Prince and you see it is a woman.
[17:49:45] You: The Sabbat, is the opposing group the Camarilla, which preaches freedom in accorrdance. That each vampire should be able to create their own destiny unhindered bythe reputations of their elder's. And that no Sabbat has to lay down their' life for cowards who will not take care of their own problems. Of course, this doesn't always work like this in actual practice.
[17:50:27] You: Now, has anyone ever heard of the term. Blood hunt?
[17:51:36] Pandora Fireguard: no, i haven't.

[17:52:20] Pandora Fireguard: it sounds like the sabbat's are independents, not in a clan.
[17:53:22] You: Nope. they are the opposing force against the Camarilla. Independents don't really care who takes the lead. The Sabbat and the Camarilla do.

[17:54:03] Pandora Fireguard: ok. so the sabbat's are like the youth generation. lol
[17:54:14] You: A blood hunt is the persecution of a vampire by the rest of vampiric society in order to attempt to kill him. Another name for a blood hunt is the Amarant, in reference to the flower.
[17:54:22] You: Amaranth.
[17:54:27] Pandora Fireguard: rebelling against the old ways.
[17:54:41] Pandora Fireguard: and how do they kill him?
[17:54:50] You: In the past, the Amaranth flower was given to a vampire who will be killed in a week before the hunt began as a warning.
[17:55:56] You: There are many ways to kill a vampire-each different. Diablatrizing, exposure to sunlight, ripping them to peices. Wound them enough and they might die as well. Vampires are not immune to damage. They can be wounded, and killed.
[17:56:59] Leigh Luv: I think I might be able to help with that answer if I may
[17:57:08] You: Please Leigh.
[17:57:32] You: Come on in Kuro, grab a seat if you wish.
[17:58:43] Leigh Luv: most kindred it is the seavering of the spine..and also burning..or as Kev said sunlight...but that is all permadeath so please becareful with this...then if wounded enough they could lose all their blood but that does not kill them it is torpor which one can come back from
[17:59:17] You: Remember, you cannot permanently kill a character without their permission.
[17:59:36] You: Now, the next thing to talk about is the Blood Bond.
[18:00:43] You: Simply put, the Blood bond is a supernatural link of fidelity.
[18:01:32] You: Someone becomes involved in a blood bond by drinking the vitae of the same vampire on several occasions. After the first sip, the thrall begins to develope strong feelings for the regent, now it's up to you if this is love or hate. And they are still able to act as they choose.

[18:02:36] You: After the second sip, the regent becomes a very important person, who may go out of their way to seek the regent's attention and please them. The third sip--the bond is complete. Enthrallment. Now the vampire is entirely subject to the other. The regent is now the most important person to a vampire.
[18:03:09] You: Good point Bellezora, the first sip, or the embrace--turning. As some people call it, is the first start of the bond.
[18:03:35] You: However, one can go beyond this to a full bond.
[18:04:01] Leigh Luv: a bond is not the same as a turning though but this all depends on the mythos you use
[18:04:27] You: Indeed. Although quite a few consider the turning as the first stage in the bond. This is common as well.
[18:05:11] You: it's entirely up to your roleplay on that.
[18:05:17] You: Now..Myths of Vampires.
[18:05:27] You: Who can tell me some of the popular myths of Vampires? Anyone.

[18:07:22] You: But the fear of crosses is not nessicarily true-while in modern television and movies, vampires are afraid of crosses because they are "holy" simply put, the christian faith evolved much later than the existence of vampires. As vampires in some form, have existed in stories as far back as Ancient Babylonia.
[18:08:07] You: However, how you choose to rp your vampire is up to you. You may rp that you cannot see yourself in the miror, that you need some of your home dirt. That you can't tolerate garlic.
[18:09:10] You: Some vampires rp that they cannot enter a domicile or building without permission, and once given, it's given until it is revoked. Which may or may not be why the Cafe doesn't have a door per-say. *winks*
[18:09:27] You: Now..how do Vampires feed?
[18:10:06] You: In Legacies, Vampires can "feed" with the feature. This can be found under your Action Menu. However, please keep in mind that all attacks must comply with the challenge rule.

[18:11:21] You: Now as some of you are new players, we're going to barely touch on the Challenge Rule. Since it's so nessicary to vampirism.
[18:11:36] You: Before you attack make sure you meet the challenge rule: 2short posts or 1pararp post. Give the person time to respond (approx 10mins). You must be acknowledged by the person or people in the group before you proceed with the attack. (the purpose of the challenge rule is for the person to ooc know that something is getting ready to happen, this does not mean that they necessarily have to know this icishly

But there is one main thing with all our characters...please be consistant with your character...for every strength there is a weakness that goes with it...and most of all enjoy your RP..but here is the list of authors

[18:16:59] You: most vampires roleplay that to be turned you must drink the blood of the vampire that is trying to turn you. Drained to the point of being empty, then fed the vampires blood. While this isn't the "only" way, it is the typical way.

[18:17:49] You: Exactly, find other vampires icly, and ask questions, although you might find it hard to get information. Sometimes it's a matter of being in the right place and the right time. If your trying to be turned into a vampire, you can always ask a person you suspect of being a vampire.
