Roll Your Own Skills

The easy way to learn your skills is by integrating them into your dice rolls, by focusing a skill.

Look through the list of skills and choose one. The list is here: http://larps.net/skills_and_professions.php

Now make your character focus on that skill so it's the prime thought, using the following command:

    /9use SKILLNAME

    eg: /9use Illusion

This makes the current thought branch of the character to focus on using that skill. Therefore success and miss in dice rolls would attribute to that skill.
You can change your focus at any time and there's no limit to how many skills you want to learn.

The character doesn't need to own that skill. In fact, the first time they use the command, it registers a new learning node with a starting point of zero.
You may check your skill progress on your Character sheet / Skills page.

The current focused skill also shows in your Geographic Information bar for quick reference.

When dice rolls are done, the thought branch is given along with the dice roll in the RP chat, so you and others know about plausible rolls.

    Example Role Play:
[00:01] Unnamed concentrates on the rat to make the mouse trap look like a sexy lady rat.
[00:02] Unnamed focuses their skill of Illusion and gets a stellar success in performing a supernatural influence on Black Rat.

Poor rat. At least he goes out with a smile on his face :P

Success points are then attributed to that Illusion skill. For a miss, you get more points as learning through mistakes and failures is always the best way to learn.

Skills learning by tutors will always give greater teaching points on skills, but for those players who wish to "go it alone", this is a viable option.
Don't forget the game area objects too. Skills can always be enhanced automatically with the use of NPC for combat skills, fishing etc.

If you wish to clear your current focus, use the following command:

    /9use nothing

This will basically leave you thoughtless.
