Such was life..
(1 post)-
Mona had begun to wonder if last night’s encounter with the ‘grim’ being had been a dream, another of her wild imaginings. They had become so vivid of late, so much so that she would struggle to differentiate between events that had taken place - and those that had come to her whilst brooding in the shadow lit emptiness of her abode.
Such was her confusion that she could scarcely focus on her usual undertakings. Instead she would open her eyes, only to find she was once again sat in the same seat of the Ten Bells she had occupied the night before, with the very same drink in her hand… The same familiar brawling and unkempt undertones of the clientele and the dizzying repetitiveness of the un-tuned piano would ring in her ears like some terrible and inescapable lullaby.
Was this real? She would study the glass and the dark green liquid that filled it with an air of scepticism. The faces in the tavern would all look familiar yet unwelcoming as her grasp upon the glass tightened. Eventually it would shatter in her hand, yet she would feet nothing… A dark liquid would begin to ooze from the deep wound that stretched the length of her palm. She would stare at it blankly for a moment - though with some fascination. The speed of her bleeding quickened, the dark liquid pulsing from the wound and spilling onto her dress, saturating the material until it seeped onto the tavern floor. The sides of her mouth curled into a horrifying grin as the shadows cast from the fireplace leaned toward the dark liquid that had begun to circle and spread around her. She would throw her head back and let out a hideous laugh which echoed through the tavern.. Her darkness would ooze and surround the other patrons hungrily, as though it had it's own agenda.. She’d throw her head forward to view the horrific scene, only to find she was once again sat in the armchair that was positioned in front of her fireplace. There was no tavern; there was no bloody and horrific scene… She peered frantically at her hand, searching for a wound.. But there was nothing. There was simply nothing.. And such was Mona’s existence of late… Such was Mona.
