LaRPS :: Legacies Role Play System
LaRPS is the only intuitive game meter powered by an artificial intelligence available in Second Lifeâ„¢.
What does this mean to the Role Player?
LaRPS is the best way to promote RP on the web. It does this by not only encouraging, but actually rewarding active Role Play. All actions done by the player's character within the game environment are tracked and learned by the LaRPS meter system The player does not have to worry about stat juggling or points distribution. LaRPS becomes the 'Brain" of the player's character. It learns by doing. This frees the player to become fully immersed in his character, and his character's environment, further facilitating the player's ability to suspend disbelief during game play and to truly 'become' their fantasy.
This is accomplished by removing the technical aspect of game play and replacing it with total character immersion. The only thing a player must do is create a character and begin Role Playing. LaRPS does the rest. It follows the Player’s Character’s actions and interactions, facilitating their role play by allocating talents to support what that Player’s Character is doing.Â
If Player’s Character is a magic user and spell caster, the meter learns this and begins working to increase that Player’s Character potential of success. If he is a brawler, it will build his muscles, agility, and endurance. In real life,  all actions are a combination of talents. LaRPS knows this, and as your brain and body become accustomed and trained to perform those things which you practice, so does LaRPS for your in game character.
By constantly building bridges and pathways between the talents used by the Player’s Character, LaRPS rewards every action by incremental improvements in those skills always weighed against the highest possible potential of that character at any given time. Mimicking real life, Player’s Character suffers from hunger and fatigue, becomes resistant to things it is exposed to, and can even 'learn' to speak a new language if engaged often enough with other races.Â
The Player’s Character only progresses by actively role playing. No longer is it possible to ''cook' a character then bring it out at level eighty to dominate a game. It is impossible to create a 'god' character, thereby not only encouraging active character building through role play, but necessitating it.Â
Player’s Character gain power, wisdom, and sociability by interacting with other player characters. Built and designed to facilitate, encourage and reward Role Play, LaRPS boost the talents of the Player's Character incrementally and exponentially by recognizing and rewarding that character for engaging with others in Role Play. This fosters community and networking within the game environment. It pushes the in- game economy and food cycle through requiring characters to respond to hunger and fatigue. This encourages the establishment of shops and inns, creating jobs and an in world economy.Â
There is a currency feature in LaRPS which facilitates exchange of goods for in world game coins. This promotes player to player interaction and community building. There are actions and features built in to the meter that will allow a player to create the character of their dreams, and use these actions to facilitate their role play. Whether a player's character is a magic user, non-magic user, fighter or diplomat, LaRPS has functions and actions built in to help that player push his story forward.Â
As in real life, nothing is certain in a game, or should not be, that is why the element of chance is built in to the meter. Behind the scenes dice are rolled for each action attempted, and if succeeded, resistance or defense rolls occur. This all happens behind the scene and in real time, the only thing the player knows is if they succeed or fail. this is important because the flow of the storyline is no longer interrupted while dice are rolled and outcomes are calculated. The game and the Role Play progresses and flows in real time. Whether it be a story line or a battle. LaRPS facilitates the action of the Player Character on the game floor.
The creator of LaRPS realizes that not every player enjoys battle at the same level and many Role Players are not interested in battle skills at all. That is why there is the ability to set a game realm with two battle levels, The Role Play Area, Set at ground level to a certain altitude, and the Combat Area, set above that altitude. What this means is that in the Role Play Area, all battle takes place in a turn based fashion, allowing time for the players to narrate their characters' actions and responses. At the same time, we realize that some players wish to come and release frustrations and aggressions by a good old fashion hack and slash, shoot out battle, and LaRPS facilitates this as well, with real time meter based combat within the Combat Area. Players receive a small and discreet warning at the top right corner of their screen when crossing into this area so as not to impede their Role Play.
All of this combines with a sleek compact user interface and full racial customization in accordance with your game realm’s Role Play. LaRPS ensures the Player is able to suspend the element of disbelief, and enjoy a totally immersive experience in their Role Play.
